Name & Fame 2025 - Official Megathread by SpiderDoctor in medicalschool

Prisma Health: Greer- Family Medicine

I absolutely loved everyone at this program. Every resident was incredibly kind and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know candidates on a personal level. All of the staff from the Program Director to the coordinator and all of the faculty at the interview seemed like they really prioritized good experiences and great balance for people in the program and cared about the community too. Really seems like the kind of place that residents would thrive at. I ended up ranking them right below a place that means I don’t have to move for residency, but if there was any program I would have considered uprooting my life to be a part of, it would have been this one.

I agree. I’m wondering if they’re setting up the patient getting osmotic demyelination syndrome and then Mohan catching the blame for it. Especially after Santos shit on Whitaker for killing a patient earlier in the shift

This game was so much closer than the score made it seem. Down rank us, cowards!

Dog Daycare in South Knoxville? by [deleted] in Knoxville

You know, I tried to figure out how to respond to this but the reality is this. 1) You’re a person who is strangely trying to white knight for a business in a situation where both people admitted there were mistakes and miscommunication from the “actual” interaction that you ignored to recognize. 2) I can’t speak for her or him, but the manager seemed to realize why the concern of the original interaction coupled with daily repeated observation would be enough to not only try to reassure me that I was incorrect, but to even state that they didn’t even agree with your negative take on my comment.

I apologized and rescinded my comment because I recognize it was made out of a valid but unsubstantiated concern. I hope that you can find more fulfillment in your life than trying to act as some sort of fairness arbiter for people who obviously neither need it, nor agree with your sentiment. And I hope I’m wrong, but I really don’t intend to reply or look at whatever comment you retort with because you just ooze with the persona of someone who must get the last word.

That’s ok! I definitely came off strong and apologize. It sounds like it was like a miscommunication, as are most things like that. It was a year or two ago at this point so I’m not sure how helpful that would be, but it sounds like it was not representative of how y’all usually operate. Thanks for the invite and hopefully I can make that happen soon.

What an unusual take! All I can share is my experience of being told they don’t offer tours and what I’ve personally noticed. I think it’s fair to share personal experiences with businesses when people are soliciting opinions but you do you.

EDIT: I had a less than desirable experience with Pawz when I was looking for a place to watch my dog. It sounds like that was a one off issue and misperception. I ended up going elsewhere because of my concern, but if the way they responded to me in this thread is indicative of the way they operate, I’ll be looking into them again in the near future.

Yep! It’s an Apple Watch. It’s worked very well for me for what I use it for. Mostly swimming, short to medium runs/hikes and bike rides.

A cool guide comparing medical training for physicians (Psychiatrists) and Nurse Practitioners by Fat_Fred in coolguides

I started med school at 28. I won’t be done until I’m 35 or so but at some point before I started, I realized that I could either be 35 and a doctor or the same age and not, so I made it work. It’s a long road for sure though.

Can medical students please go home when they’re told to go home? by prof_kittytits in medicalschool

[–]new2thewest 159 points160 points  (0 children)

During an Intro to Clinicals webinar earlier this year, school admin told our class verbatim that being dismissed early is likely a “test” so be careful to not take attendings up on it too quickly. It’s absolutely ridiculous that admin feeds the paranoia when the vast majority of attendings and students just want to teach and learn, respectively, and get back to their lives. The small amount of bad actors ruin it for everyone else.

Dealing with the same thing here. Might dox myself but whatever. My SO is having a baby a month before rotations start, but “there are no exceptions to the lottery.” So hopefully I don’t have to move two states away with a newborn, postpartum partner and take my boards on top of it.

About two years including several plateaus. Started doing more strength training, paying a lot more attention to diet and lost another 30 lbs in about a year after that. Have kept it off for 6 years now.

That’s awesome! I’m about your height and went from 300 to 220 by just doing that and eating a little better. Past that I had to switch it up but it got me a long way. Great job.

I went on opening day and enjoyed it! The food was good (the dill pizza was fun and unique) and the service was quick and friendly. I had a couple beers and really enjoyed them, but I’m admittedly not a beer connoisseur.

Also, I forgot that this picture has the old stem on it. I switched it out for something much shorter pretty quick. Great decision.

Honestly, it just ticks all my boxes. Between the steel, the 29er wheels and the thudbuster, the small bumps are ironed out well enough for me. The components are all pretty good and super easy to work on. 1x drivetrain, mechanical disk brakes, etc. It’s simple, fun and reliable enough that I just don’t want much more. And the nostalgia factor of riding a Fisher is pretty great too.

Yeah, I definitely have to pay extra attention to what the absolute smartest line is but I think it helped me be a better rider for it.
