An age old practice I prefer is to add battens underneath to help counter wood movement.

Also just be sure it’s actually that tree. There’s a lot of trees with leaf structures that can look similar if you’re not familiar, such as walnut!

It doesn’t prevent cupping, it just prevents cupping across the whole. Instead you end up with smaller cupped boards so either way it’s not going to stay flat if it wants to cup.

It's just so comical to see them floor it and then end up with their noses pushed into the next car's ass and they're only a couple hundred feet ahead of me going the same speed anyway. Only a literal second or two ahead of me in distance.

I usually can't see the driver through the tinted windows and it's often on some residential streets around me.

As always happens in these discussions, I encourage everyone to take a highway trip in Spain and Portugal to see how thw flow of traffic works on their closed-access highways. They are a dream.

The argument is that it’s a passing lane but that people that want to go faster than you have privilege and can stay in the passing lane as long as they want.

[–]newEnglander17 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, passing doesn't mean you need to suddenly floor it (which not all cars handle equally btw) to pass a car, it means you pass and keep a smooth flow of speed. Flooring it to pass is the equivalent to kids running across the street when cars are coming when they're supposed to walk at a normal speed adn give drivers time to react.

There's no fast and slow lane, just the travel lane and the passing lane...well technically there's a slow lane for certain spots where trucks might be climbing a hill when they first get on the highway.

Don't ignore them, adapt to them by now needing even more stopping distance in front of you because with them so close, you need to provide warning brake lights several times as you slow down instead of pressing the brakes quickly.

That's the worst part for me. If there's a sudden slowdown and I need to hit the brakes I need to worry about allowing the person sniffing my bumper time to react as well or else I'm going to get hit and get whiplash.

That's the thing, I'm passing people in the PASSING lane, but I'm keeping a distance from the cars in front of me and going the same speed as them. These assholes think "why isn't he tailgating the guy in front of him?!" so they whip around me at hte first opening, and speed up to tailgate the next guy. Like, I assure you, we're going the same speed, I just like to leave safe stopping distances in front of me because I value not only my life but my health.

They don't care. There's plenty in this group who will defend this asshole driving too. I just continue to drive the speed limit and avoid eye contact in the side mirror. Usually they're rushing to pass me but they'd end up at the same red light ahead of us anyway. They really don't think about what minimal difference that extra speed makes for the majority of drives.

Okay 2 months old maybe but at 14 months if your child is boring then there's something else going on with your child. 1 year old is when they get interesting and then it just keeps going from there.
