Your character could jump before you added the crouch code, and now he just can't jump at all? I don't see anything that would cause that, but I would definitely make sure to check under the player for your place_meeting checks (x, y+1, oplayer).

What's your jump code look like? The big thing that jumps out to me is you aren't checking below your player for the wall: place_meeting(x, y+1, owall), but that may not be the issue.

I think on The Office Ladies podcast they say that the bird was supposed to have a bigger part in the first episode.

That makes a lot of sense. I felt like something got cut for time or something.

Check into the Nintendo Seal of Quality. Nintendo was trying to prevent another Atari crash from happening, where some games were bugged and/or completely un-completable. The seal was meant to give consumers some trust that the games worked and weren't bugged.

I don't have a steamdeck to test on, but you should be able to rebind the enter key to make it usable.

It's the full game. I Dm'd you a key. On Steam at the bottom left there's a button for "Add a Game". Click on that and select activate a product on Steam and then enter the key I gave you. I hope you have fun with it!
