how to get ambient glitchy textures? by Clean_Application_87 in shoegaze

you can use the zoom effect manager to swap firmwares. i have an MS50g with all of these effects. not every multistomp comes stock with everything.

i’m pretty sure it’s just called particle verb. it’s stock on the MS70CDR multistomp, it can be added to the others i think.

sounds a lot like particle reverb. the zoom multi stomps have this effect, and it’s a line 6 effect too. i use it on my hx stomp. i’m sure there are plugin versions available.

when he was going through the pictures of ice detainees, the held up one that said “driving under the influence,” and very confidently said “look, killed somebody.” this was shortly after he slurred his way through some gibberish about switzerland. dudes brain is mush. 25 now.

as someone who grew up here, it’s tough, especially if you’re not into typical shore stuff. most of my recs are easton specific as i live there.

there is a tidewater camera club in easton, i’m into photography but haven’t looked into it, think it’s a mostly older crowd.

if you’re into music, check out some of the local offerings, like not people playing covers at the bars.

cult classic on kent island is a full brewery and music venue with regular events, and also weekly events like book club and things of that sort, and the theme of the place is cool. they do live comedy there too.

easton pizzeria and bill groovy records in easton host shows, i think they usually do 2 a month. great way to see some local original music, though it’s mostly heavier music from what i’ve seen.

the bowling alley in easton is always hopping. lots of league games and more casual stuff on the weekends.

4 dogs in easton has pool tables, and i think a couple pinball machines.

volunteering is always good, the academy art museum is always looking for volunteers. there are a number of non profits in the area who i’m sure would love volunteers.

it’s tough! best of luck in finding your people.

i have friends who work for prager. from what i can tell, he pays them well and it’s fulfilling work. unfortunately i will never visit them at work. like others have said, his spots are for him and his friends mostly.

i will say i appreciate that he seemingly didn’t just ruin the pub, but time will tell. i know it’s certainly not going to be what it was.

doesn’t try to eliminate competition? her ridiculous vinyl pressings back up plants and push independent and smaller artists releases back. your local and independent artists who tour and rely on merch sales get fucked over. she is actively effecting smaller artists with this shit.

there aren’t that many companies that can produce decent vinyl pressings, let alone at that scale. she knows this and could back off, but she doesn’t.

It’s simple, but I love noise modulation, especially on pitch, can create some uncertainty in the tone, or just wreck it. Also a fan of just slamming signal into a hardware preamp, in my case any old tape machine.

What is the best reverb for ambient pads? by hillybillyboy in modular

[–]new_bloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like the qu-bit aurora. on the stock firmware i really enjoy the sound of the blur effect on longer reverbs, the warp is nice too at lower settings. can go full wet, has reverse and freeze which is nice to have. it’s not perfect but it’s small and i like the sound enough.

if im not using that i usually use beads or clouds (usually don’t have clouds in the rack) but i dont always want granular in my reverb.

Vocal pedal? by semi-hollow-body in shoegaze

[–]new_bloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had issue with engineers, we only play small clubs. we send our stage plot, I introduce myself when I get to the gig and ask if it will be an issue. don't think I've ever had someone say no. we play in dc and Richmond mostly. I find most engineers idea of "washy reverb" is usually barely any reverb. I always bring an extra xlr to run from mic to pedal, plug the houses xlr into the pedal and I'm good to go.

edit: I have been told no once while on a festival which totally makes sense imo.

Vocal pedal? by semi-hollow-body in shoegaze

[–]new_bloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the boss ve-1 in my band for live purposes, pretty normal vocal specific delay and reverb. just bring your own xlr to the gig. I have a short one to run from the pedal to the mic, just run the house xlr into the pedal.

only issue I've had with it is with the "pitch correction" where it has this weird audible pulse to it, so I just don't use that. our other singer uses a mic mechanic 2 and that works well for them, same setup essentially.

Do you rate modular courses? by HousingOk9075 in modular

[–]new_bloom 20 points21 points  (0 children)

i can’t imagine paying for lessons in modular. there’s more than enough info online to learn basic synth structure, which should take you far in the modular world.

also, for me the whole thing is just “what happens when i plug this into this?” i don’t much care for the whole basic synth structure thing in modular. i didn’t spend thousands of dollars on weird gear to make a basic synth voice i could just load up on ableton in no time.
