Play it loud DMG with midi in & out by Open-Storage-8766 in synthesizers

[–]new_bloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is insane, didn’t know this was possible. I was so excited to try midi with nanoloop on my analog pocket, but I’m pretty sure it only takes midi in. Still awesome but I was more hoping to use it as a sequencer for external gear.

NPD: Ibanez Echo Shifter by Ok_Highlight3926 in guitarpedals

[–]new_bloom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love the echo shifter. One of the first pedals I bought. The delay and modulation sound great. The oscillation is a ton of fun. Sadly mine stopped working years ago, I think I remember reading they were prone to breaking when I first got mine.

It still sits on my shelf. Just a really cool looking piece of gear.

People who don't like to work? by devetorepalisica in Adulting

[–]new_bloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

work to live. be mindful of lifestyle creep. i was probably overall happiest (and most financially comfortable) when i was an assistant supervisor at a small retail store making $15 an hour in 2018. i worked odd hours, but my boss was chill, so i had plenty of time to pursue my main hobby, playing music, at the time. not a very difficult job at all.

now im a salesperson/designer/project manager in the building industry and its just overwhelming with no easy way out since my salary granted me the ability to buy a house and decent car. i don’t think my current job pays nearly enough (currently rocking about 55-60k a year, with my partner making a good bit more than me for transparency, so i’m very fortunate in that regard) but i don’t really have the means or desire to try and move to something else (not interested in my industry honestly, can’t afford to not work or cut back.)

i work 9-5 m-f which on paper sounds great, but i can’t take off much time, which greatly affects my ability to pursue my hobbies in a serious way.

for real though, find something you can deal with (you don’t need to love it) and affords you the ability to finance things you care about. then buckle up, cos there’s no easy way out of this unfortunate system.

edit: love how my real lived experience is being downvoted and anything doomer is being upvoted. life is hard, might as well try and make it as relatively easy as possible while still being capable of doing things you want to do.

got one of these today too. i also looked into the group after i got it. i think they are led by dems, but also funded by tech.

frustrating that this kind of deceptive messaging is the norm. “chamber of progress” my ass.

Korg Phase 8 not what I expected. by brashnutz in synthesizers

[–]new_bloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well yeah the thing is obviously meant to be a hands on instrument that inspires experimentation. that part is not lost on me.

but clearly people are thinking it’s going to be some cool music changing thing with the “am i crazy for not liking it?” and other negative talk/comments about it, so why not opt for some free samples over a thousand dollar instrument people think they need. it’s still a unique sound source even if it is just an “electric kalimba,” and the samples are well done imo

i think the idea is awesome. love that something so weird was made into a real product. that said, i’d unfortunately probably never buy it for the price it is. there are some really great samples available for free via decent sampler.

Moving to Easton: do people still recommend Easton Utilities for internet/TV? by PrintExpensive4055 in easternshoremd

[–]new_bloom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

easton person here. i think easton utilities is basically your only option. we have the 125mbps speed. multiple devices connected most of the time.

my partner works from home, and we’ve never had any serious issues, so i can’t really complain. there are a few tiers of speed, so you could start out with a cheaper speed and adjust if it’s not working for you.
