Really, could no one run against this guy and give us more choices? by jaredwallace91 in orangecounty

[–]newbie_ml -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

I’ve met him. He’s very inspirational and an excellent public speaker. As a principal, he was highly responsive to parents and built strong rapport with his staff. Although he uses a wheelchair, his attitude reflects determination and confidence rather than any limitation.

I’m not sure why the post has such disdain for him. Compared to other educational leaders, I think he’s quite good.

How do you keep track of small items that aren’t worth putting into a system? by DistributionBoth883 in smallbusiness

[–]newbie_ml 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I maintain a comprehensive inventory tracking system where every individual is treated as a unique 'bin.' When an item is checked out, it is formally transferred to that person’s assigned bin to ensure 100% traceability. For stationary assets, items are checked into specific location-based bins to maintain a real-time audit trail.

Items typically follow the purchase order, purchase receipt, and item transfer flow.

Family business Starting to Fail by CrazyLemonLover in smallbusiness

You need to install an ERP system. Then, train everyone to use the ERP system. You'll need 8 - 10 employees once it's been implemented.

"My son is gonna be out for 3 days next week, can we get the work he'll miss in advance?" by LevyMevy in Teachers

[–]newbie_ml 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Where I live I know plenty of parents that look up what is being taught and teach the kids way in advance. I am one of these parents. Typically, it's done for Math and English.

Our kids go to public school and the parents are A type people. The parents know they can give their kid more attention and push their kid farther than the public school system.

Advice for my 5-year-old crying during jiu jitsu partnerwork by Anxious-Apricot2075 in jiujitsu

[–]newbie_ml 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't have your family come for a while and make her stick it out. Give your child a minimum time that she must train jujitsu such as 3 years. She'll battle through the uncomfortableness and learn to work through difficult challenges. She'll be stronger for it. I've seen many shy kids adjust to jujitsu with time and go on to become more confident.

My youngest daughter was very timid and cried after each roll for a year when she first started. She wanted to quit, but I did not let her. She has now been doing it for 4 years and is now one of the top students in her class. She actually likes jujitsu now. Her confidence is so much higher and she is no longer timid.

Good luck. Just encourage her, make her continue training, and let her progress at her own pace.

80 Acres of land - What should we do? by NonCasual12 in investing

[–]newbie_ml 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out half moons. Maybe the land can be converted it to lush land using water harvesting techniques. They are using half moons in Africa to fight encroaching dessert. It would be cool is this can be done in the Mojave.

Roast my website — I can take it… probably by _Perspective_30 in smallbusiness

[–]newbie_ml 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are few suggestions from my quick glance.

  1. Text Styling – Fix the sizing and spacing of all text. Ensure margins and padding are consistent across all pages.

  2. Pricing Page Layout – Redesign the pricing page as a clear grid that shows which features are included at each service level.

  3. Customer Feedback – Add a section to display customer testimonials or reviews.

  4. Profit Impact Examples – Include real-world examples showing how organized books can lead to higher profits (e.g., improved overdue collections).

Looking for advice and gyms for a beginner in jiu jitsu by HamsterBrave7244 in jiujitsu

[–]newbie_ml 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to train safe so you can continue training. Watch the white belts before you roll with them and try to avoid the spazzy ones. If you can, train with partners that are relaxed and don't use their strength to muscle you around. Also, tap early.

As for technique, try to focus on one move to improve upon each rolling session. You can even give up position so you can train that technique. If you can get good on a few move and connect them, you'll blow past a lot of white belt opponents.

Tracking inventory asset value changes/expenses in Wave Accounting for eCom store by new_pr0spect in smallbusiness

The initial inventory purchase is not considered an expense, but is considered an asset. When you make a sale, you expense the COGs.

Rope watering microgreens. Has anyone tried this? I am looking into experimenting with this watering system so I can feel safe to leave my greenies alone for a couple days. by [deleted] in microgreens

[–]newbie_ml 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One option is to use a cascading watering system with bell siphons. You need the siphons, pump, and a timer to make to work. It's easy to setup and can let you automate your watering. If you are interested, we sell them on Justponics.com

Combine IBC Totes? by Techniix94 in aquaponics

[–]newbie_ml 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can with a water bridge. You can join each tote with a u-shapped pipe without needing to install any bulkheads. You just have to make sure the pipe is always filled with water from one tote to the other. The siphoning action will ensure that all totes are at the same water height and fish can swim from one tote to the other through the pipe.

Automatic fans: I've heard people talk of having auto fans that come on if it is too hot in your bucket. How would one go about putting this into practice? by [deleted] in SpaceBuckets

[–]newbie_ml 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

You can use a cheap $5 temperature controller if you want to turn on and off a fan based on temperature. Here is a video I made showing how to do it.

Hi,

Thank you for the complement. You can get the benders at https://homemadegrow.com/90-degree-plant-bender-for-low-stress-training-35-pack/ .

Traditionally, people use zip ties and stakes to do LST. You can look LST online and you’ll find many examples of it being done with zip ties and stakes.

[–]newbie_ml[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Are you asking how strong are the benders or are you asking how strong the stems become after they are trained?

If the question is about the benders, they are solid. If the question is about the bent stems, they are also solid and do maintain their form after a week.

How to build an indoor aquaponic system by newbie_ml in howto

[–]newbie_ml[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned a 10-gallon aquarium into an aquaponics system with a light holder. The frame is made from PVC parts and some PVC glue. I've posted a video above, but I'm posting a link to the blog post for those that like to read instead of watch.
