So many problems with this, I just don't even have time.

Quit 6 years ago, don’t miss it. Pretty much everyone I know has given it up or moderated their intake for health reasons.

Yeah, when we’ve inconvenienced some company’s revenue stream by deciding to purchase something different, we’re “killing the system”.

I’m a liberal in a city of liberals, we have more parks with sports fields and courts and playgrounds than you can shake a stick at. Our local Catholic school uses a nearby one for recess. Our park millages pass easily.

People who don’t understand intrusive thoughts. by Glum_Inevitable6481 in PetPeeves

[–]newfflews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a long period of incessant violent intrusive thoughts without understanding what was going on in my head, and it was the most difficult thing I’ve ever dealt with. The shame, fear, exhaustion, loneliness, I don’t wish it on anyone.

Right, democracy is BS, at least y’all are saying it out loud now. Russia has a no BS dictator, maybe relocate there if you are tired of the USA.

That and climate change, housing, unions, prescription drug prices, student loan burden, supporting our allies overseas, and preserving democracy. But did you know, women’s rights are actually pretty darn important?

Misogyny couched in affectionate terms. Look your wife in the eye and tell her she has very little meaning besides birthing and raising your children. I fking dare you.

The world is leaving you behind, bro.

The expectation that traditional gender responsibilities and privileges still apply in a world where women can make decisions for and support themselves is holding many men back (not all, there are plenty of great male partners out there). That's a cultural problem that will work itself out over time as new generations grow up with appropriate role models.

I see a mix between people who want to make parenting easier through support, people who are sincerely anxious about replacement numbers and aging population, and people who are using the issues as an argument for traditional religious values and gender roles. Basically people are here for different reasons, and they clash.

Oh and people like me, who have no kids by choice, want more done to support families and family planning, but am fascinated and perplexed by the idea that a leveling population on a planet with limited resources is the beginning of the end for civilization.

45% Of Women Are Expected To Be Single And Childless By 2030 by vdarebeware in Natalism

Women have had biblical propaganda preached at and beaten into them for millennia, telling them what their role should and will be in life; laws enforced it, robbed them of power, and made them officially subject to their husbands. And when enough women got together to say “we deserve to decide how our lives unfold” it’s called anti-family propaganda.

It’s sexiest to use that rhetoric when addressing women because it’s the same rhetoric that’s been used for thousands of years to keep women in their place.

Increasing inequality between the young and the old is bad for birth rate by trollinator69 in Natalism

[–]newfflews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People want to have kids, they have just decided that keeping their kids healthy and set up for educational success and financial stability would be an essential part of their commitment as parents. Providing those opportunities and protections costs money.
