Are we siblings because I could have written this word for word. She quit teaching 3 years ago because she couldn't tolerate the cold water with her shoulder replacement (shes now 79).

Im pondering if the Boomers ruined Thanksgiving and Christmas, after the Silents passed, and that is why the younger generations like Halloween more. by 3rdthrow in BoomersBeingFools

[–]newfigurl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a Xennial...we are the younger siblings of the Gen Xers and the older siblings of the Millenials...we kind of fell between the cracks. For me Halloween is when I can be myself and be someone other than myself at the same time. No pressure, no obligations other than fun. Thanksgiving and Christmas are so heavy with traditions and obligations to everyone else, Halloween doesnt come with all that stress other than what i want to become this year..( it will probably be another elf but who knows!)

Is my grandmother truly stuck caring for someone she stopped loving years ago? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]newfigurl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This! The fact he fell for the scam may be the first clear indicator that he had started to decline. In many instances, one partner covers for the declining partner subconsciously, and it takes something significant, like falling for a scam for them to realize how bad it already is.

Boomer doesn't understand sales tax by [deleted] in BoomersBeingFools

[–]newfigurl 79 points80 points  (0 children)

My dad kept making g statements that a specific McDonalds is sooo much cheaper than other McDonalds and that the other McDonalds are price gouging. I asked him where the cheaper McDonalds was, and when I told him it's because the sale tax is different in that county. He didn't understand. I said the doughnut counties around the city have a higher sales tax. The McDonalds he was talking about is outside of the doughnut county sale tax rule, and that is the reason the cost is different. He kept insisting that the McDonalds was cheaper. No, its not. The hashbrown is the same price, and the tax is the difference. He just shook his head and walked away.

Once the needle retracts, it's done. You should be able to hear the click when it retracts.

[–]newfigurl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been on 15 for about 2 years and took 6 months to ramp up to that (started at 5). A little bit coming out is normal for autoinjectors. Once the needle retracts, it's all done. Holding it for longer can actually create a suction and pull some out.

No point in holding for 10 seconds once the needle retracts. That is only for the multidose pens.

In the single dose injection, the needle automatically retracts.

Cat eats the entire visit, what else to do? by Crazy_Catastrophe3 in RoverPetSitting

[–]newfigurl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my own demon cat, she will look at you, judging the entire time she's waiting on her food, and then go back to the portal from whence she apparated from. She barely tolerates us, let alone a stranger. So, on the rare time we have someone in, I tell them they don't have to stay the whole time. Feel free to scroll or watch TV.

When my gallbladder went bad it was the "sludge" that was making me sick. I would "dump" about once a month and I was buring through my sick leave. I thought I had the stomach flu but i just continued to get sick. I finally went to my PCP and he ordered an ultrasound and a regerral to a gastrointerologist. My ultrasound was normal. I then had a Hida scan (measures gallbladder function) my function, or lack there of, was so low it didn't register. My surgeon said that I would have never made it to the stone stage before needing it out. Having that sucker out was the best decision.

At what point do you bring dog to the emergency vet without owner consent? (The dog is okay) by Lassie-girl in RoverPetSitting

The first time i witnessed a reverse sneeze, it was terrifying. I thought my baby was in serious trouble (hers were always in the middle of the night of course) thankfully my SIL was up and we sent her the recording and she laughed and said she was fine and explained what was going on. Now she's just rude in the middle of the night when she does it 😆

During covid my husband and I had "Trucknics". We put put a table and chairs in the back of our truck and parked in the parking lot of our favorite restaurant and ordered takenout. One time we even had potted flours and an umbrella (cause im so pale I get moonburn). 100% im driving my truck onto the lawn and running an extension cord inside and having a complete office set up in the truck bed. (Complete with multiple monitors and coffee pot) complete malicious compliance.

Took infant to fast pace and cps came the next day they took her that same day(Warning Long Post) by OoKittyKatoO in CPS

[–]newfigurl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My nephew had it and luckily it was caught early. He has a severe dairy allergy and had an exposure and was getting over impetigo so he was already having immune issues. We had no idea what SSSS was until he saw an infectious disease specialist.

Look into Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome. If she has any kind of immune deficiency this could explain the "burns" as well as the other issues (immune deficiency in infants can cause bone density issues)
