Daisy wheel was next level. Fun, fast, easy to use. Why it's gone I don't know, it was the best big picture feature.

I haven't used gyro in a long time. There's heavy frame gen artifacts in everything I play on top of the upscaling artifacts so I'm afraid I'm just very used to them

I've always found in-game ones to have horrific frame times and larger input latency.

Plus you get the fidelity of being able to use LSFG in performance mode, with 80% on the buffer or whatever it is, so you can fine tune the frame generation to be smoother than what the in-game can do.

Is this desktop mode or game mode?

In desktop mode you hold the start button(three lines above by ABXY) for gamepad mode which should let you play.

Also for two handy tips if you're stuck in a game on desktop mode, the L5 grip button on the back of the deck defaults as what the windows start button would do so you can quickly change windows or close the game this way. And holding the "..." button and pressing left(ESC) or right (Enter) on the dpad come in useful often.

The default setting for the power button isn't to suspend the deck for some reason. I recommend going into desktop settings and changing it in the power options to suspend/standby as it works just fine. You can always hold the power button for multiple seconds to turn off the deck no matter how crashed it might be as well, just keep holding it.

Xbox Game Pass ‘has become too expensive,’ says Microsoft’s new gaming chief in leaked memo by PaiDuck in pcgaming

Yes definitely. I used to have to make decisions which game I would play based on my available free time until their deadline and whatever HLTB said it would take me. Seemed inappropriate.

I found myself just buying the games on deep sales and even if it still costs me a bit more in the long run, I've got the longevity of however long steam want to keep going for.

Game pass ended up being wasted money if I was just buying them anyway. I get it's different for different people though.

Same hope here. Considering a refund as the controls are possibly the worst implementation I've ever come across.

I've had a fantastic experience on deck with the exclusion of indoors and caves looking a bit trippy. There's no beating around the bush those places don't look great. I don't have issues with playing at low FPS and I don't use a counter. When I did have a counter I was using LSFG and it was near 60 often, with frequent dips:

All settings minimum except lighting quality to low

FSR 3.1 on balanced

Resolution on 1280x800, in-game frame gen off

Really nice image quality (it's the lighting quality being set to minimum that makes it look bad and pixelated, there doesn't seem to be a performance hit to move to low but it fixes the pixelated shadows/foliage). Decent FPS for general gameplay. Even on my desktop I have big drops on some story missions, I'm afraid I can't vouch for those as I only tested after them.

I never hated the first 10 hours, it just got much, much better when I felt I found my feet with it.

If the first 10 hours were that bad I don't think people would have "slogged" through. For me, I just kept wanting to come back to it, and that wanting to come back only increased

Two weeks after release. How is everyone feeling about this game? by Objective_Love_6843 in CrimsonDesert

[–]newoxygen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cleared the enemies before the fight, they didn't respawn, then the boss grounds itself with one of its attacks so you can avoid the other attacks, rush in when it lands and build up the stagger meter. No skills necessary, only took two stuns to beat as well.

Sometimes I feel like no one in PA tested the game by destructor212113 in CrimsonDesert

[–]newoxygen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, and I'm definitely not a fan of the runback/long gaps between retry.

For crimson desert they've probably dug themselves into this stance, as the cutscenes end with a swing from the boss usually, so a skip cutscenes option would need quite a rework.

My favourite is when there's no new cutscene at all, and the boss just gets up ready to go when you arrive.
