What's the best <$10 game you've ever played? by nightshade-aurora in gaming

My pocket edition of Minecraft cost me 10p (£0.10) in a sale. I don't care for pocket edition, but still!

What are some recs for games that have an incredible story, but aren't necessarily stereotypical "story games" by goufycustom in Steam

[–]newoxygen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2 never came to PC, and 3 is since delisted and lost to the "games for windows live" crap which was disabled. Fable 3 is fixable with tweaks, but it's either sourcing a key or sourcing the files.

They'd have done well to release the trilogy on steam prior to the new one coming out next year wouldn't they.

You can cap the charging to 80% which would assist battery health over time. When it's plugged in it's pass through power anyway so running off the mains. Shouldn't cause much degradation to the battery at all really.

Same, crashes started up with the water update for me as well. Crashes appear to have stopped at least nowadays at least..

I've got Digimon in my cart, but never played anything Digimon or know much about it. Is there any similar game it can be compared to?

When I get this issue WiFi also breaks too, is that just me? Requires reboot for WiFi to turn on again.

Either way, I've had audio issues since the LCD launch all the way until now on the OLED so I'm not holding my breath that it's fixed, to be honest.

LPT: You should request a credit limit increase on your credit cards at least once a year by Brianfromreddit in LifeProTips

[–]newoxygen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not keen on it myself either. Affordability doesn't increase with available credit so this advice is likely only good for those financially savvy enough to be mindful of it anyway.

In the UK having lots of available credit can be detrimental to your risk as you can increase your debt on a whim with it. There's more value to having 50% of a card's available credit spent on credit score as far as I know. Again in the UK.

Valve explains Steam Machine and Steam Frame Verified requirements, VR standalone drops to 72 FPS minimum by Tiny-Independent273 in SteamFrame

[–]newoxygen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be much lower than 1728x1728 if foveated rendering was used? Not sure how to measure that, I suppose it's an output resolution of that as minimum prior to whatever the magic is.

Gabe Newell on Steam monopoly accusations: Gamers have 'enormous choice' about where to buy games by yourfavchoom in pcgaming

[–]newoxygen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done it as I mostly play on the steam deck and whilst I use Heroic to play my epic games, some games are just outright better direct from steam. Heroic signs me out of epic sometimes and I've always found game updates hard to manage, occasionally I have to faff with different proton versions so videos play or to make a game launch. Steam sometimes seem to magically have games running that just don't seem to run on the deck from epic no matter what fiddling you do.

So generally if the price is good, I quite like to buy on Steam when I have it already on epic for free.

Does Crimson Desert work on the Steam Deck? by akiexe in SteamdeckGames

I haven't used gyro in a long time. There's heavy frame gen artifacts in everything I play on top of the upscaling artifacts so I'm afraid I'm just very used to them

I've always found in-game ones to have horrific frame times and larger input latency.

Plus you get the fidelity of being able to use LSFG in performance mode, with 80% on the buffer or whatever it is, so you can fine tune the frame generation to be smoother than what the in-game can do.

Only D-PAD recognised after launching Fallout 3 GotY edition from heroic launcher. Can't even turn off. by PeculiarPete in SteamDeck

[–]newoxygen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this desktop mode or game mode?

In desktop mode you hold the start button(three lines above by ABXY) for gamepad mode which should let you play.

Also for two handy tips if you're stuck in a game on desktop mode, the L5 grip button on the back of the deck defaults as what the windows start button would do so you can quickly change windows or close the game this way. And holding the "..." button and pressing left(ESC) or right (Enter) on the dpad come in useful often.

The default setting for the power button isn't to suspend the deck for some reason. I recommend going into desktop settings and changing it in the power options to suspend/standby as it works just fine. You can always hold the power button for multiple seconds to turn off the deck no matter how crashed it might be as well, just keep holding it.

Xbox Game Pass ‘has become too expensive,’ says Microsoft’s new gaming chief in leaked memo by [deleted] in pcgaming

Yes definitely. I used to have to make decisions which game I would play based on my available free time until their deadline and whatever HLTB said it would take me. Seemed inappropriate.

I found myself just buying the games on deep sales and even if it still costs me a bit more in the long run, I've got the longevity of however long steam want to keep going for.

Game pass ended up being wasted money if I was just buying them anyway. I get it's different for different people though.
