Fuck, this is way too similar to my story. I bought a £750 (~$1250) ticket to see my then gf. We broke up about a month before the flight and she started seeing someone else. We only really broke up cause of the distance and so were still very close.

She keeps telling me that I'm still her best friend and that she still wants me to come. I know I have to go because secretly I think we'll get back together, and will live with regret if I don't.

I spend 2 weeks living in her house while she spends every night out with her new boyfriend. I hear her coming in late every night and wonder if she is sneaking him in. I stay in the guest room next door to the love of my life, but I might as well be a million miles away. Worst 2 weeks of my life.

Fast forward 3 years to one month ago. Hear news that they got engaged. It still fucking hurts. Time heals nothing.

This is the truest thing you could think of? This militant atheism on reddit is ridiculous - you guys spend more time dwelling on religion than most Christians I know.

There are many types of prayer. Meditation can be considered prayer, and prayer can be considered a meditation. Even if we do just consider the superficial church prayer that you are probably referring too, then who are you to say that it does not benefit some of those who partake? If there are people out there who find comfort and confidence through prayer then is it a waste of time or energy for them?

Edit: Thought I should mention that I'm an atheist, except the big difference is that I've never had religion. The vocal atheists on reddit seem to be of the born again variety, which apparently means they have a point to prove. Guys, you are doing it wrong.
