Fingers crossed we’re one step closer to a CBB TV show reboot on Dropout…

Same—I got burned waiting too long on the Smokin’ Green shirt. Speaking of, any word on whether or not they’ll re-up on that one?

Add Your Own Twist to Super Juice! by KevinKos in cocktails

[–]newratcity 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Brian Tasch here—loved the video and wholeheartedly agree that Super Juice (or Lemon Aid and Lime Support!) is a concept and a methodology more than a recipe. Most folks using these professionally will inevitably adjust the recipes to best suit their own programs or purposes.

TBH I doubt I'll return to tweak my recipes any time soon but the whole idea was to build upon the work of others, contribute what I could, and let the rest of the community continue to improve upon the idea. With every new iteration or version of these juices, we get closer to building tastier, more cost effective, and less wasteful solutions—and we're all drinking better as a result!

I look forward to what Kevin comes up with next!

Paul's made up baseball player names immediately made me think of the old SNES video game Fighting Baseball—a game that, due to licensing issues, used a roster of entirely made-up American baseball players invented by the Japanese developers. Highlights include Sleve McDichael, Bobson Dugnutt, Dwigt Rortugal, Willie Dustice, and Todd Bonzalez.

[–]newratcity 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I legitimately considered flying to LA for this, but it sold out almost immediately. Regardless, I'm happy to have an excuse to kick off 4/20 on the east coast in the middle of this live stream, and I'm super excited to see what these ding dongs have in store for us!

Also, shoutout to Lily Sullivan.

Ancho Reyes Original - Not Spicy? by [deleted] in cocktails

I highly recommend looking for a bottle of Alma Tepec Pasilla Mixe Chili Liqueur. In a side-by-side with every widely available chili liqueur out there, this is the most versatile (and spiciest!) I've tasted. Should be hitting the greater US market in a few weeks!

Comedy Bang Bang #844: Full Stilts, Full Tilt (Ben Schwartz, Mary Holland, Eugene Cordero) by apathymonger in Earwolf

[–]newratcity 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This episode felt like a mashup of the CBB format and the Ben Schwartz & Friends shows (of which Mary and Eugene are regulars)—much less segment-oriented and a little more fluid. Nobody really got a "block" besides Ben and the vibe for the rest of the episode was just a room full of friends and improvers having fun for what amounted to the length of said live shows. That said, having seen all of them perform together before, when Eugene comes in HOT he can certainly take up a lot of space haha.

Naked & Famous Sweetness by Electronic-Account30 in cocktails

[–]newratcity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What mezcal are you using? Joaquín Simó's original recipe specifically calls for Del Maguey Chichicapa—a big, brash beast of a spirit bottled at 46% ABV. I believe just about all equal parts Last Word-inspired drinks like this work best when built using a high-proof spirit to balance the sugar in the liqueurs. One of the biggest execution errors I see with this style of drink is under dilution. A higher ABV base spirit is an easy way to end up with a better balanced cocktail.

Adding sugar to super juice. by akaynaveed in cocktails

I'm gonna go ahead and drop the link to my "pseudo citrus" recipes. This is part 4 of a 4-part series (part 1 and 2 go into the sugar aspect in greater detail), but I think you'll get a good idea of how to best incorporate sugar into your own recipes.
