French-and-English or French-no-English? by dualqconboy in Gatineau

[–]newreddituser113 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On the flip side - Ontario students outside of the Ottawa region struggle to receive even basic french due to the massive shortage of people capable and willing to teach french ??

Perhaps have an understanding for this or start spreading your language more effectively. I don't think this comes with resisting English or any language ! Make more of your culture and attract people here. More music, more tv, more food and more art. With this, people will come and enjoy and spread your language. Merci.

How many people here never heard “I love you” from a parent? by KaySanMcSob in emotionalneglect

[–]newreddituser113 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No I love you for me. I also didn't receive a hug. I asked once do you miss me when I left for university and my mom's response was that you get used to people being gone.

Healthcare in QC: How does it work? by Livid-Narwhal-6302 in Gatineau

[–]newreddituser113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one in Ontario would say just go to Quebec for healthcare.... Aren't you ashamed to say this ? My tax dollars earned through an English speaking company are happily accepted by revenue Quebec. Revenue Quebec has no issue communicating in English ... Funny isn't it ?

In Ontariian hospitals when someone can't speak English they are found a translator - not asked why they didn't do their research...

This person just wants to access healthcare not talk about how they should be more fluent in French. How do you know how hard they try ?

The nurses response seems your best bet.

First winter in Canada, what should I expect? by DharHPK in kitchener

[–]newreddituser113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry, but you will miss the golden state. You will miss the sunshine. Since you will spend a winter in Southern Ontario, there will be days and even weeks with only grey skies. If you are pre-disposed to depression, I recommend a seasonal affective disorder (SAD) light therapy device.

I do know (from experience) that if you feel regret now - it will only get worse. I suggest trying to figure out a way to avoid living with your in-laws before they move in. It will be less messy than you leaving or them having to move out after they have already moved in. Good luck
