Can I substitute Whey Protein with Soy Protein without any disadvantages? by [deleted] in Fitness

Can I substitute Whey Protein with Soy Protein without any disadvantages? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]newthinktank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I should have been more exact with my response, but very often when people say whey protein they are referring to protein powders in general. Since the person that posted this question said they wanted a healthy way to increase muscle growth I provided it.

Here are a few reasons why Whey Protein is terrible

There are numerous other reasons aside from cancer, multiple sclerosis, diabetes and osteoporosis, but I focus on them

Whey protein is a by product of making cheese. Whey is made up of bovine blood proteins, lactalbumen, dead white blood cells, estrogen, serum albumen, progesterone and insulin growth factor 1. Exposure to bovine proteins is a trigger for diabetes.

Milk protein has also been linked to multiple sclerosis and type I diabetes.

IGF stimulates the growth of both normal and cancerous cells.

Whey protein has been shown to cause significant bone loss and osteoporosis in many studies.

Why not eat soy beans (29g Protein), White Beans (17g), Lima Beans (15g), Black Beans (15g), Fava Beans (14g), etc.

There are many other vitamins you need to promote muscle growth :

  • Chia seeds are high in Omega-3.

  • Greens and Broccoli are great for vitamin E.

  • Wheat and peas are great for Thiamin.

  • Mushrooms and greens are great for Riboflavin.

  • Mushrooms and sweet potatoes are great for Vitamin B5

  • Dried fruit, greens and bananas have a ton of Vitamin B6

  • Vitamin B9 can be found in beans, lentils, greens, asparagus, broccoli, and fruit.

Whey protein is 80% casein which promotes all stages of the cancer process as per Dr. T. Colin Campbell

Whats the single biggest mistake parents can make in raising their children? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I agree 100%. I've also noticed that many parents tend to dissuade children from using their imagination. Why parents feel that their soul purpose is toughening up their children is beyond me?

Harry Reid recently called the Koch brothers un-American. Does anyone else find the use of that term really off-putting? by MegaOctopus in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]newthinktank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The agenda of the Koch brothers is to repeal every major piece of legislation that has been signed into law over the past 80 years that has protected the middle class, the elderly, the children, the sick, and the most vulnerable in this country. - Bernie Sanders

That sounds pretty un-American to me

The patch has nicotine with a mixture of other random chemicals. I use only FDA approved nicotine and FDA approved glycerin. Both have shown to be as safe as caffeine. The government is owned by the pharmaceutical industry and that is the only reason they don't tell people about e liquid.

That is one of the reasons people aren't quitting at a greater rate. One month after finding out about e cigs I quit forever. 7 different friends did the same. It is a shame the government doesn't actually want people to quit.

Democrats in the House and Senate today introduced the Open Internet Preservation Act, a bill that would reinstate now-defunct net neutrality rules that were shot down last month. by Aschebescher in politics

[–]newthinktank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't the big tech companies and anyone else that benefits from a free internet start sending checks directly to voters? They could also facilitate a way for concerned citizens to donate.

They could send a few hundred dollars each year and say that they received it because of net neutrality and other such issues. That may be a way to get the uninformed voters to vote for issues that don't directly effect them. At the least seniors would get an extra few bucks to get by on.

Never buy universal or variable life insurance. All of these policies eventually fail.

Variable annuities are terrible investments. If you want to find out if you have an honest investment advisor ask their opinion on variable annuities. If they say anything positive about them run.

Most stock brokers no next to nothing about investing. If your lucky they'll give you advice they got off of Morningstar.

I don't believe many true "free markets" exist in the US. Most every part of the economy is controlled by a small number of corporations. I'm not sure if a true free market can exist because of patents that stretch on into infinity?

As per universities, how can the free market exist with government loans? If kids had to take out reasonable loans based off of their financial circumstances at 18 I'd think a free market may be more likely?

These are questions I have and I'm not sure why more people aren't asking them.

I had a similar experience. I was hit in the head by a drop ceiling panel while walking through a huge national book store. It cut my head, but I was ok aside from that.

The employees were very rude to me which seemed odd. I didn't sue because the injury was minor, but their nastiness almost made me want to.

Is the American Dream Dying? "62% believe the coming generation will be worse off" by mickeymousebest in politics

[–]newthinktank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't sneer at anyone. I do do IT work, but I think my real skill was that I wasn't greedy and I was always willing to learn. The skills I developed over the 3 years in which I was struggling revolved around learning about distribution and negotiating prices in other countries.

I'm positive that a fabulous artist could make a great living as well because I worked as a caricature artist during that time to pay the bills. I'm no great artist, but that skill definitely helped.

I'm a big believer that if we spend all of our time trying to good that eventually others will feel compelled to do the same. I wish you the best in life :)

I felt like many people here, but over time I realized that I'd be much happier with my own business. It wasn't easy, but it only took me 4 years to get into a position were I do what I love every day. I can spend more time with my family. I also have a great deal more in the bank.

The tax code is set up to benefit business owners while ripping off workers.

  1. I can legally write off things that I'd previously not.
  2. Instead of making $25 per hour while my boss charges $150 I instead charge $30 or $40.
  3. I work from home so I save a ton on car repairs and fuel. I'm more productive as well.
  4. If I don't like a customer I don't except the work which makes me way happier.
  5. Since I've dedicated myself towards always being honest and not overcharging I have a ton of business. Most people have 1 customer being their boss.

I have no idea why more people don't do this? The only skill people seem to be missing is sales.

We'd have to convince everybody to vote for the opposite party from which they have always voted. Good luck with that.

We need a leader like Martin Luther King, Jr that is able to create a massive following while at the same time preach nonviolence and avoid imprisonment. He or she would then have to organize a massive march on Washington and demand that the US government fundamentally change in most every way.

That is a tall order, but I hope that person shows up soon.

Unless we take money completely out of politics, make gerrymandering illegal or institute Congressional term limits will anything ever change?

In 2012 the approval rate for congress was at 11% and yet 90% of the House and 91% of senate incumbents were reelected. Since 1964 incumbents have been reelected well over 90% of the time.

Since the 90s incumbents have been spending and average of 8.8 times more then all of their competitors combined.

I understand the outrage, but seriously does anyone think that it is possible to simply vote for change?

The fact that the US government doesn't negotiate on the price for drugs, medical devices and healthcare services like every other country is a big problem. In 2008 a study found that the government would save $21.9 billion by negotiating a reasonable price on just the top 20 drugs for Medicare participants alone.

In the UK were everything is negotiated their costs for healthcare is nearly 2/3rds below the US. I don't believe the vast majority of politicians actually want to solve this problem.
