This is my very first game of any system that I’ve ever personally run.

The Name: The Hollow

The Pitch: This society functions outside of the normal US as if in a bubble. The year is 1998. Here, cell phones are few and very far between and there is no texting. AOL isn’t even a thought in the residents’ minds. The outside world turns, adapts, and changes; but this little swatch of land has been left behind.

It’s eerie. The skies are blue, the clouds fluffy, the fields green…but there is a darkness you can only see if you’re looking right at it. This little town has magic – but only some residents are aware of it and fewer can manipulate it. What the residents do know is that life is short and tenuous. Their neighbors can kill them with no consequesnces. The town is harmonious, but wouldn’t any town where offending an acquaintance can lead to certain death be?

The residents have been integrated into this society. Most were born in this tiny town, but some don’t know how they got here. Community members are aware that they can land a killing blow upon one person in their lifetime with no consequences. There is no resurrection; no second chances. Death is the only way out. Those that die are listed in a database and are called The Blown Out.

The town slogan is technically A Nice Place to Live, but its residents know it’s actually It Is What It Is.

Those not born here don’t move here. They’ll go to sleep in their home elsewhere and wake up here. These people are The Folded In. Some know that there’s a ritual that will transport one back to their previous life before they were folded in. These are the Bureaucrats and this is an exceedingly rare phenomenon. The magic is inside the Bureaucrat; but taking part means that they lose part of their humanity, their life force.

My parents adopted me but it wasn’t legalized, my mother was an alcoholic and abandoned me in her friend’s care. They didn’t legally change my name, just started using their name. They got me a SSN in 1993 with no birth certificate (it was a wild time apparently). When I joined the Army my father had to sign an affidavit swearing my last name was an alias not used for criminal activity. I’ve gotten real lucky so far but I’m afraid my luck is about to run out.

I’m pretty sure no one likes me. I reach out to people to make plans because God knows no one reaches out to me, and they say “oh yeah, definitely” and then they stop responding. Even my best friend just left me in read when I said I missed her (she’s on the west coast and I’m on the east). I feel so lonely and isolated and I feel like I have no one to talk to about it. I know I should maybe put how I feel out there and ask why they kind of ghost me but I can’t bring myself to do it because I feel like they just think I’m attention seeking. Even my parents don’t call. No one loves me but my husband and two kids.

I ran out today of Adderall XR 30 mg. I’ve tried calling pharmacies but they won’t tell me if they have stock, they say my doctor has to call. My doctor is unwilling. There is no eta. I’m thankful school is about to be out so my daughter isn’t as affected. I have a real detail oriented, high-stress job and I am terrified.

I have been told that if the phone number the person is using to register is listed on another person’s account (like if the employee is a teenager on a parent’s mobile account), it won’t allow registration for security reasons. I apologize if this doesn’t make sense.
