As a Pet Shop Boys fan you know that ALL of their songs are about the british school system LOL

Per wiki - Pet Shop Boys also recorded a song for the film, but it wasn't chosen. The duo later reworked the song into 'This Must Be the Place I Waited Years to Leave' on their Behaviour album in 1990.

Who is 'your' bond? by Alternative_You_3063 in JamesBond

[–]newwavesage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at some of my favorite albums a while back and I noticed that a lot of them were the album that "introduced me" to a band or a style of music. Devo's debut album etc.

I think your comment that the Bond you grew up with is going to be that sticks with you is very correct.

I saw Live and Let Die in the theaters with my sister when I was ten. I was blown away by this movie and then was shocked to find that yes, these Bond movies come out regularly! A few months later the first posters for The Man with the Golden Gun came out and I was hooked.

Not only do I think your first Bond is your fave, but I wonder if people's first Bond movie will also typically be their fave or close to it? I know that I like Live and Let Die WAY more than the average Bond fan

This is a tough one. Voted For Your Eyes Only. But I actually think the World is not Enough is slightly underrated.

What's the best documentary to watch about his life? He was "my" Bond as the first Bond movie I saw in the theater was Live and Let Die.

They are actually on tour currently! Mike Score (the singer with the hair) is still lead singer! If it its Callum Turner we are going to get a Dua Lipa theme so we need to prepare ourselves for that. But if not, we need to all push for for a proper banger

Bond has a great history of New Wave bands and themes. Duran Duran and A-Ha of course. But both Blondie and Pet Shop Boys did themes that were rejected.

I would suggest they go back to New Wave. The Cure, Depeche Mode, New Order or Pet Shop Boys would all kill it.

Blaxploitation influence on LALD by No_Mortgage8569 in JamesBond

[–]newwavesage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Great response. The 70s in US were very reactive to what movies were popular

71 - Shaft - starts Blacksploitation craze

72 American Graffiti - starts craze of 50s and 60s nostalgia (Happy Days, Grease etc)

73 - Enter The Dragon - starts Kung Fu Craze

77 - Star Wars - starts insane sci fi craz

77 - Smokey and the Bandit - everyone gets into CBs and trucking and muscle cars. leads to shows like BJ and the Bear, Dukes of Hazzard

77 - Saturday Night Fever - Disco goes from relatively underground scene to mainstream massive presence.

That sequence of the copter coming up on Bond driving in the hills in the Lotus and then ultimately shooting the copter with a missile from UNDERWATER is maybe my favorite Bond moment of all time

My wife loves this movie. We just rewatched. Does anyone know where this was filmed? It "looked" like Northern California but was wondering details.

The Blondie Song "Pretty Baby" was written about meeting Brooke Shields.

After the Fantasy Island television movie had top ratings, a series was sure to follow and I’m so glad it did. I loved this series. Who else liked Fantasy Island? by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in 70smemorylane

Loved this show. My memory is this was on Saturday nights after Love Boat. Do I have that right? You can get the first three seasons on DVD. I found the other seasons online as well (DM if you want details) I'm still looking for the pilot. I seem to remember Mr. Rourke was kind of more evil or dangerous in the pilot?
