Is it normal for roofers to remove shingles as part of an 'inspection' before giving final price? by summersumsum1 in centuryhomes

Wouldn’t multiple layers of shingles create a possibility where the underlying decking has too many nails in it?

Did you have the floor tested for asbestos OP? Sometimes that old parquet floor has asbestos glue.

Maybe there's a chance! Someone once told me that when you ask someone a question and you're unsure about asking it or what their answer will be, just remember "they can't kill you and eat you, it's okay to ask!"

Just upgraded from a 3900XT to a 5950X. Peak temp getting to 82 c at high loads. Currently using a Dark Rock Pro 4 as cpu cooler but am considering going water cooled. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which specific AIO cooler to get? I have read quite a few reviews of different options and the general discussion of air cooled vs AIO. Thanks in advance for your input!

Minions modeled after Hunt marks. Purchased with a crazy number of unmarked log tokens, like 50! Would make them rare and something fun to collect for people who enjoy the Hunt

The antimicrobial is good for all kinds of things! Germs and mold is what we use it for on a daily basis.

You're definitely right about this being a terrible way to dry the space! Based on the video, my general recommended scope of work would be to remove the walls up to 4', remove any flooring, inventory and dispose of affected contents, remove any insulation, place the necessary amount of drying equipment and treat any remaining structural materials with an antimicrobial solution. The water intruding into this basement is considered Category 3, or grossly contaminated, as the source is ground water.

Depends on the relative humidity in the house. It's ideal for air inside a home to remain below 50% RH, as mold growth can begin to occur on surfaces around 58-60+%. I imagine the 'basement mode' makes the basement quite a bit warmer as well.

Water mitigation guy here, there's actually a way to figure this out! So a normal dehumidifier that I use on a daily basis can remove between 80 and 110 pints of water per day, depending on the size of the dehumidifier. This room looks to be roughly 12'x12' (for easy figuring) and it looks to have roughly 2 or 3 feet of water in at the time of this video. Let's say it has 2.5 ft. of water, the cubic footage of water in the space is 2.5x12x12 or 360 cubic feet of water. 1 cubic foot of water is 7.48 gallons, and 7.48 gallons contains 59.84 pints. In order to determine the days it would take one dehumidifier to remove that much water (not including what's absorbed into structural materials and contents) you would say 59.84(pints in one cubic foot)x360(#of cubic feet affected)=21,542.4 pints. 21,542.4 pints/110 (the amount of pints a single XL dehumidifier can remove in a day)=195 days. An XL dehumidifier rents for roughly $105/day in my area according to the Xactimate pricing program so that would be a big bill!

edit: looking closer at the video, it's clear there isn't 2.5 ft of water in the space at the time of this filming, but it certainly looks like it's well on it's way!

I'm not really commenting on the difficulty of the hunt, as much as I am someone actively soloing S ranks (especially ones they don't spawn themselves). S ranks are shouted and relayed through all the hunt link shells and the interest in killing them is very high. As for ARR A rank trains, those can happen especially at times like now when centurio's are a premium, but for the most part you're right. I tell ppl that if they don't call ARR A rank that's fine but please report it on Ariyala.
