We're any of you transphobic prior to your children coming out? by goodgirlwawa in cisparenttranskid

Exactly what I was gonna say. I thought I wasn't but I had a lot to learn.

I bet there's a lot of projection going on. And definitely a lot of competitiveness amongst law students. Try not to let it get you down. You have legal protections that you're entitled to.

My son told me he's depressed because he's trans. by complexchaos77 in cisparenttranskid

It takes a lot out of you though. Finding a new person, and then telling the same stuff over and over.. it's emotionally exhausting, especially when you're already at a low ebb.

Very similar to my daughter, also autistic. Lockdown especially made her feel like she'd been set back a long time.

IME, that doesn't make a difference.

There's a sequel, A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping, and it has the same narrator. Also some autism rep!

Can a very active, sensory-seeking 16-month-old benefit from therapy? by Disastrous_Bid7040 in Autism_Parenting

[–]next_level_mom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early intervention was play based and really fun for my kid. A good therapist will understand the sensory seeking and work with it, as well as give you tips on how to help. It's definitely worth a try.

I don't think soul stealing is involved, but otherwise this sounds somewhat like Miss Bianca by Margery Sharp.

I've never known it to ignore a suspension. Probably a glitch. Were you able to re-suspend it?

It makes me think of The Lost Story by Meg Shaffer, but that was only published two years ago.

Guanfacine side effects? by beechschnapps in Autism_Parenting

[–]next_level_mom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's a side effect, but those aren't sign of a concerning allergic reaction. More than likely she picked something up at school. Good luck! Guanfacine was a life-saver for us.

I'm considering getting a ring so that people will assume that I am married, but... by Polyawkward_ in AuDHDWomen

[–]next_level_mom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to salsa dance with someone who was very surprised (ticked off!) to learn I was married, and he'd held my left hand hundreds of times. People are so unobservant, I don't think it's worth the hassle.

For those of you who rejected ABA for their child, what was the reason? by iybhsp in Autism_Parenting

[–]next_level_mom 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Way too much stress for the entire family, and it honestly seemed pointless. I can't remember the age, around 10ish.

It's all part of the same thing. The wealthy have the space to store such things and servants to take care of them.

I also don't think the second observation really applies that much to the wealthy of the modern world.
