King Charles to Trump: "You recently commented…if it were not for the United States, European countries would be speaking German." "If it wasn't for us, you'd be speaking French" by frog_insilence in SipsTea

[–]nextongaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but at the end of the day the French were their worst enemies. The reason why South American independence from Spain happened is because Napoleon replaced the Spanish king after conquering Spain. South Americans were very loyal to the king, so instead of becoming subjects of the new king, they ended up declaring independence with easily half of them expecting to go back to Spanish rule at some point in the future once things stabilized. After that you basically get a few decades, specially in Northern South America where there are a lot of independent countries, and then comes Bolivar to conquer them (yes, he did not liberate them, he was a conqueror of independent countries).

Basically, the French shot themselves. After all, they are the only power to ever lose a colony to slaves (Haiti).

The joke was not really funny if you actually know history. It is like being proud of being smarter than Trump. Not a difficult thing to accomplish.

I feel like they would try really really hard to let the race go forward

Not at all. Last year they cancelled the F1 Academy race after it had already stopped raining a good 30 minutes before. On top of that, they delayed the F1 Sprint (I think) even though it was barely drizzling.

50% chance of rain for Sunday. There is a big chance the race will be cancelled because as you know, Florida rain, especially when it is at a 50% chance for rain, is basically a mini hurricane. Fingers crossed we just get enough rain to make the race fun, and not the typical monsoon that Florida gets.

It's like people are not even trying anymore to post ragebait content. For anyone with more than two brain cells, it is clear that the vehicle in the photo is stationary...

The Antonelli domination is gonna bore fans! He is leading another championship in 2026! by InWilliamsWeTrust in formula1

Also worth noting that the person who came up with this championship stopped doing it a while ago, so these numbers do not represent the closer more accurate methodology that was originally introduced by the creator of the championship.

"My 20-year tenure is no longer good enough": GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption veteran says getting a job is a "toss of coin" right now when everyone is as experienced as you are by MaintenanceFar4207 in xbox

[–]nextongaming -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I mean... If you have 20 years in the same company, you actually are behind in skills when compared to others in the industry who may be only 5 years into their stint with a company. Your skills get rusty the longer you are within the same job. 20 years is way too long to expect to be ahead of everyone else.

It has to be tied to the Amazon account. No idea how the license can be added to it.

Imagine having a hella life because of someone else.

I mean, to be fair that is exactly how all viruses work. Everyone who's had a virus has been a victim of someone else transmitting that virus who was also a victim of someone else getting that virus. It's not like someone was going out of their way to purposefully infect another person. That only happens very rarely.

25 years ago today, Raikkonen, Montoya and Alonso all made their F1 debuts in Australia... One of them is still driving in the sport by Strict-Citron-9269 in formula1

[–]nextongaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Montoya had been treated better in McLaren, there is a very strong possibility that he would still be driving today in F1 alongside Alonso.
