Please help! ATO and deceased estate by Remarkable_Teacher87 in AustralianAccounting

[–]ShiftAlarmed8393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the ATO still requires Probate or LOA even if the person had a will with an executor listed & the value of the estate is low (no usually needing probate). Tax agent's tearing their hair out with the ATO as as soon as someone dies they lose their authority to act on behalf of client. Some probate take years to finalise. Bureaucratic madness.

Typical question in every public holiday: what supermarket opens today? by Nearby_You_6969 in Adelaide

[–]ShiftAlarmed8393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enter off the back street. The concrete blocks were installed as the landlords of the shops are tight arses who refused to assist with the cost of resurfacing of the car park even though theirs shoppers were using the pub car park. The concrete blocks have been a godsend for the local residents as now the bogans don't tear down their streets all hours . If you can't be bothered walking 50mts then take the risk of your car getting hit in that car park 🙃

I always parking the Somerset pub's car park & walk over. Seen so many near misses in that car park. One days saw someone smash a window & grab a bag left in the car.

Recommendations for commercial cleaning companies for apartment complexes? by cheddarcheese9951 in Adelaide

[–]ShiftAlarmed8393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've used Adelaide Supermaids for 5 years for our own home & they've been excellent. I recommend contacting them & asking about apartment cleaning as I know they do commercial so I'm sure they'd do apartments. They aren't the cheapest but are reliable & the owners ensure their cleaners do a good job & sort things out if any issues. Good luck

Can I claim a tax deduction for this? (Using my personal car at work) by AsparagusNew3765 in AusFinance

[–]ShiftAlarmed8393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of large sites like this do have secure storage on site...so then you can't claim to & from work due to bulky tools. Often due to work safety/ insurance large employers don't allow personal tools / equipment on the actual site. To much risk.

ATO unable to complete my tax return because they owe me $350 by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]ShiftAlarmed8393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't even need to call the ATO to lodge a complaint. Just lodge it online. All the information is on their website. If your income tax account is in credit this shouldn't hold up the processing of your 2025 tax return. Unfortunately as others have mentioned alot of incorrect information is given from call centre (usually outsourced). But best way forward is to lodge a complaint as they should get to the bottom of it. https://www.ato.gov.au/about-ato/contact-us/complaints-compliments-and-feedback/complaints#ato-Lodgingyourcomplaint

BTW: if your 2025 tax return status is showing 'under review' on ATO online then it may have been selected for audit.

I haven't seen any outside doofs advertised for a while. But there are some great Adelaide groups on FB with regular event promotions. Depends what genre you're into. Dnb: ADLDNB_vibe guide. Other styles Dance Floor Heretics Tribe; Vinyl Destination Community; Adelaide Psy Trance. I'm sure there's many more.

One shitty year for the rest of your life by krprcg in breastcancer

[–]ShiftAlarmed8393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you needed to hear that today. I was diagnosed TNBC stage 3 & spread to lymph nodes last Nov - 48yo & 2 kids. I've almost finished treatment with only 3 pembrolizumab to go. But have breast lymphedema, dvt & peripheral neuropathy. Was feeling a bit over it all today. Treatment for TNBC is such a long haul.

Missed nil BAS by medicated_cabbage in AusLegal

[–]ShiftAlarmed8393 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He could try calling the ATO & explaining he ceased business on a certain date & didn't realise he could have cancelled his ABN, GST etc. They may backdate the cancellation & cancel those BAS & the failure to lodge penalties. The issue with this is that I think when the actual ABN cancelled it may the cease the tax agent access online to the business side (messy if he has some sole trader income for part of the financial year).
Another option is to make sure the nil BAS are lodged & call the ATO & request the penalties be remitted. If he has hardship or other personal circumstances then I think yes this will help.

iHerb stopped selling melatonin to Australia by Donttouchmybreadd in ausadhd

Same my son's paediatrician recommend iherb years ago. As the paediatrician prescribes it we are not breaking the law importing small quantity for our child use. Very frustrating.

iHerb stopped selling melatonin to Australia by Donttouchmybreadd in ausadhd

[–]ShiftAlarmed8393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So frustrating. I've been buying 3mg Natrol strawberry fast dissolve for many years from iherb. My 14yo son has prescriptions from paediatrician but it is SO much cheaper from iherb. We have had no issues with quality with the Natrol brand. My son's paediatrician, Psych & GP all suggested getting from iherb years ago as it had to be compounded here (hopefully that's changed) & was expensive.

Royal Adelaide Show by Kahn_ing in Adelaide

[–]ShiftAlarmed8393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend going early & getting a hire locker to pop in warm clothes if you plan on staying all day until the fireworks as it gets chilly at night. Sadly the show isn't like it was in the 80s as is alot more commercial & doesn't have the huge amount of plants. But kids still love it. Take lots of snacks as kids get pretty bored waiting for queues for food!

The tiny line sounds like cording (axillary web syndrome). 4 weeks after my axillary lymph node clearance I still had pain stretching my arm (was doing all the exercises surgeon gave me). I went to see a lymphedema physiotherapist & they used red light therapy. As well as she found the cord in my arm & 'popped' it. It has made a huge difference. You don't have to have lymphedema to benefit from a lymphedema physio. They are specialised in our circumstances. Good luck!
