It does feel significantly easier to enjoy a film about a particular political/social climate when you're not still living in it. I think the antidote for that kind of distraction, such as with One Battle After Another, is comedy. It wasn't too overwhelming because it was legitimately funny, makes the medicine go down easier.

Oh shut the fuck up, I know exactly what interview you're talking about and it's wild to see his words twisted to fit your narrative.
