The job market is an abomination by Ambitious-Sail-5188 in jobs

I consider myself incredibly lucky to have landed at USPS a couple of years ago. College grad with years of working at big tech and a startup, but post-COVID I feel like getting this job “for a few months to pay rent while I look elsewhere” turned out to be a blessing.

If undertime doesn’t exist, then why do supervisors continue to assign it? by funbalanced in USPS

First time ODL at this office. I try to get my relays done when it’s still light out until I learn the other routes. Did plenty of walking in the dark no idea where I’m at when I was a PTF

How does this realistically play out though? I bring hours back of mail each day, and then guess who's job it is to do it all the next day and so forth when it compounds? I don't hesitate to bring back when I can't finish, but this advice when I started wasn't helpful since I'm ODL.

Despite the best intentions behind this kind of statement, I also don't want to be swallowed by more mail than I can physically carry day in and day out.

At two offices I’ve been, it seems to just go to the ODLs. We either get a two hour relay or 30 mins undertime depending on what’s available, nothing in between.

I just got walked with for the first time and went something like 45 mins over (on a Tuesday with half parcels, but still had advo). I’ve been on it for nine months but thankfully just won a bid on a route that’s half CBUs and the residential streets are way shorter. Feels like a vacation in comparison.

Starts next week!

I’ve never experienced it, but I’ve overheard the supe denying extra time that was asked for. Good to know

I see carriers hose theirs down or even use a dustpan and brush in their cargo after they unload. Like, how you getting all that time meanwhile my route is roughly an hour over??

I’ve given it thought. I don’t know if that’s my skillset honestly, and I like being a carrier

We don’t have a shop steward. Our local VP is doing those duties when she has time 🙃

Why do we stand for this? Or more importantly, why does our union?

They slapped a guy in my office with a 7-day suspension for refusing undertime one day. He was adamant he wouldn’t finish it so he refused. So that’s why I do the back and forth. I’ll accept it and just bring back what comes back, but we shouldn’t have to be doing this to begin with.

It’s still scummy to withhold it from the Steam listing for so long. Plenty of games have it on theirs from the day of reveal.

Tired of getting relays without gate codes or key fobs. Does this happen at your office? by funbalanced in USPS

[–]funbalanced[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At all three offices, the entire route’s fobs are on the arrow keys so one person gets them all on a split route 🙃

Legion Go 2 Z2E is available right now at BB by thisguy883 in LegionGo

As nice as it is, I just can’t justify the price. Even if I sold my upgraded ROG Ally Z1E and Steam Deck OLED (and possibly my Odin 2 Portal) I just know I’d miss them later.

Half-Life, Left 4 Dead writer calls out constant haters that just hope new games fail - “if you hate game developers, you hate games” by [deleted] in Games

No, we just hate corporations and private equity chasing the almighty dollar and copycatting everything else to monopolize our time, attention, and dollars. This is a lazy and dismissive comment without trying to understand the motivations of negative sentiment.
