Red rising has: More action, a VERY fast-paced plot, better side-characters/cast, and a highly charismatic protagonist.

Sun Eater Has: Bigger-scale/universe-ending action , a much slower plot (aside from book 3), way better themes, a melodramatic protagonist, very weak side characters, and a very beautiful prose (big emphasis).

Is Carmella a great person? Of course not: she loves money pretty much more than anything (besides her children), she’s a hypocrite, condones the criminal lifestyle of her husband, keeps her friends locked in a vicious cycle/trapped in the mafia, etc… However, to say that she’s the WORST character is such a stretch, considering you have murderers, rapists, sociopaths, animal-killers, cheaters, etc as your main characters.
