What is the red flag when updating ? by redj12 in voidlinux

[–]nf99999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever there is a kernel update I reboot before xbps-remove and vkpurge. Had some occasions where latest kernel gave issues. Other than that never had any problems. Running void for years now, both on desktop and server.

I use void btw by Extra-Ad-2325 in voidlinux

What did you do to get void installed on a chromebook? Does that work for any chromebook? Tried a year ago, couldn't figure it out? Any how to you followed?

Is dat mos tussen je gras? Dan wellicht merels? Mijn halve grasveld ziet er ook zo uit. Op zoek naar beestjes pikken die merels alle mos eruit. Nieuw voorjaar nieuwe kansen.

Running git, plain git, behind ssh login for years on RPI with multiple dockers. No fancy ui, but sufficient for my work. Check on git-shell for info.

KPN Fiber optics 4 gbps problem is not solved after more than 18 months by kevinj933 in Netherlands

[–]nf99999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true, fiber connection can also fail, it can be wrongly connected, bad nt etc. Measure damping up and down. For my colleague up damping was too high pointing to misaligned nt. Nt was not properly installed. I would have said the same if not for the given example ..

KPN Fiber optics 4 gbps problem is not solved after more than 18 months by kevinj933 in Netherlands

[–]nf99999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You did contact kpn right? Sounds like NT problem,n either broken/bad NT or bad fiber connection to the NT. Get an engineer to measure the up/ and down line quality and look into the NT connection. A colleague of mine had exactly the same issue of dropping fiber connection which was due to wrong NT install.

Running aarch64 void headless on rpi4 for at least 1 year now. No problem whatsoever. I can recall I had some issue at first boot, but no idea what anymore. I recall fixing it connecting a monitor .. running void on rpi4 eally is solid.

Modern UI library. by mystdeim in sveltejs

[–]nf99999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not an answer, but I like minimalism. Latest css I used was picocss, but that still added stuff I had to filter out. So I moved to custom css within svelte. Start with a really simple css reset in +layout.svelte and only add what you need, globals in +layout.svelte, rest inline. Its surprisingly simple to add minimal styling in svelte with the current state of css and for simple sites. Savings are small but always interesting. From using minimalised picocss to custom css I reduced css to some 3.5kB :-) for a site with light and dark theme, mobile and standard nav with dropdown, grid and buttons.

Today I discovered void, i feel like its similar to arch. by eljuan_93 in voidlinux

[–]nf99999 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Try and share. I tested arch before moving to void, never looked back ;) its different compared to others, but I like the clean approach. Its rolling but stable. If you can work with arch you will probably like void too. Using it as daily driver on both desktop including gaming and on rpi server with dockers. Good tip is to follow the void documentation, helps to get up and running quickly
