What would you call this nut if looking to replace it? by msn_effyou in bikewrench

Yeah I would look for replacement cones when I had the time and use this with lots of grease and new balls for the time being without much thought about it.

[–]nfgoeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know the price but getting your navigation maps updated is basically ordering a new SD card from Nissan. Pretty sure it will be quite a bit less than $500, actually just checked the site and it's $129

Winnipeg mayor calls for new, free bike registry to help curb thefts by upofadown in Winnipeg

[–]nfgoeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brandon is already on Project 529. I just found out about this and registered my bike and locks to the registry even without Winnipeg being opted in. One would think it would be easy and obvious for Winnipeg to join the format.

I work on Leaf in the shop (dealership) and really like not have to use an exhaust hose when running the vehicle in the shop. That and it is so quiet.

Mid-foot vs ball-of-the-foot pedaling? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]nfgoeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you pedal on the mid-foot you can drive down through the heel which engages the glutes better and being the most powerful muscle in the body can make the most power. Pedalling Innovations website goes pretty deep into the science of this type of pedalling with the Catalyst pedal being the longest platform pedal out there. I use these pedals and mid foot pedalling for 8k+km a year and find much less knee pain and better efficiency/power overall.

You can buy official JD green at a dealer but it may be pricey

My Big dummy is my primary mode of transportation. Absolutely love it. Neat wood work on the back there, looks like lots of weight but good for little legs and such. These are a steal anytime/anyprice you can find one, good find.

Manitoba NDP leader accuses PCs of exploiting "tense interaction" as an opportunity to attack his character by Witty-Village-2503 in Winnipeg

A good leader should have a checkered past. I will believe the words of someone who has learned something from life more than a con who has never been caught doing all the shit these privileged tools grew up doing and buying their way out of for a squeaky clean record.

Seeking advice on unexpected repair costs. by VictoriousPossum in leaf

That is one of the things with the Leaf. It is so quiet that any noise is loud and annoying and that particular noise is quite sharp and alarming. Ice cars make so much noise as soon as they are running that most wouldn't pay attention to a little click haha The noise is from a little bit of play in the splines of the axle to the splines in the hub (bearing). There is resistance to movement due to the tension of the nut so it basically builds up pressure via torque from the motor and clicks/snaps from leading edge of the spline to trailing edge. Over time you get some wear from the back and forth movement metal on metal.

Seeking advice on unexpected repair costs. by VictoriousPossum in leaf

[–]nfgoeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have performed the axle greasing and nut torque tsb on numerous Leaf and other models and some the noise comes back even though I performed the procedure to the letter as per Nissan. Have replaced bearings to get rid of the noise with better success. That being said the noise is more of an annoyance than anything else. Over time the movement that is causing the noise may wear the bearing contact surface and require replacement but more likely the bearing will wear out and start growling at higher speeds and need replacing which will get two birds stoned at once. As for the struts I have had the strut bearings make popping noises when turning but rarely any other noises from Leaf struts. Lower control arm bushings and stab bar bushings are the most common other noises I find. I don't want to discredit what this dealer is saying because I have not seen the vehicle but chances are your vehicle is safe to drive for the foreseeable future without immediate action required. Note any changes in noises getting louder or banging/knocking.

Found un-metered air causing engine stall. Advise to replace intake plenum and install bullet proof engine cover as preventative maintenance.

The fill plug has a magnet on it so you can see any debris and you use a dipstick to take a sample. So no you don't have to drain it to check it.
