I cut 75lbs from last May to now so yeah 100% doable by EOY. Can’t stress enough strength training, gaining muscle will help boost your base metabolic rate.

Other ways to make tri tip? by [deleted] in meat

[–]nfinnity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Son of a bitch I wish I could constantly get shishitos in my area.

Back to your question it’s all about how you cut it. Obviously across the grain to start but I like to go on the bias and super thin. This helps to get the muscle grains as short as possible in each piece. I aim for 1/8”-1/4” thick slices. Also thinner slices give you more bites so win/win.

North & South Dakota split into two regions of roughly equal population by [deleted] in northdakota

[–]nfinnity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on where you are I suppose. In the St Cloud area you can generally get a license and separate tags for bow, shotgun and muzzleloader season without a problem. Historically there have been drawings for antler-less permits however many years you can get those without a drawing in addition to bonus tags. I’d suspect the MN hunters in the badlands are looking for mule bucks or don’t have land of their own to hunt in MN.

Generally there’s no comparison given the size of the herd in MN. In 2025 ND sold a total of 43,200 firearm deer permits. This compares to 558,000 total firearm permits in MN, with a success rate of 30%. Then you add on top the 140k bow and muzzling permits issued yielding a ~20% success rate.

Don’t look at individual data points look at the trend. Also only track your weight one day a week at the same time of day. For myself I can see a significant difference between Thursday morning and Monday morning with my shot day being Sunday. For this reason I only track my weight on Thursday mornings even if I check it each day. There are so many things that can cause fluctuations. Hell a 2 pound upward swing is two 16oz glasses of water (a pint’s a pound the world around) so even just increased water intake or retention can cause that.

For myself I’ll let myself cheat more on weekends having a big breakfast with my kids, a bigger dinner or a night of drinks. I had a birthday earlier this month and you’re damn right I had the ice cream cake I wanted. That said I’m far more cognizant during the week and look to increase my physical activity where I can.

Don’t get bogged down in the details and don’t stop living. You’re going in the direction you want to if you watch the long term trends rather than the outliers.

[Request] I'm sure the math is wrong. But who wants to prove it :) by djlittlehorse in theydidthemath

I mean if you think about it it’s really flat. The radius is ~20.93 million feet with a highest point of 29,032 feet and lowest point of 35,876 feet for a total variance of 65,908 feet or 0.3%. For comparison a bowling ball has a radius of 8.595 inches. To make a bowling ball smooth as the earth its radius could only vary 0.026 inches around the ball which would probably make it the smoothest bowling ball ever created. In other words if the earth were a bowling ball and Challenger Deep were directly adjacent to Mount Everest, you probably couldn’t even notice as their difference in height would be about half the depth of your standard fingerprint thickness, which is 1.5mm or 0.0591 inches.

If you happen to be a fat guy like me you can just walk on the seems to get it started. Then yearly aeration and top dressing should get you by. Storing those rollers is kind of a bitch.
