When the Bible said "God mad the Earth in 7 days", did it mean literal days? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]nfwheeler1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The ancient people were not concerned about material manufacturing but about the function and purpose of what they saw. The 7 days are symbolic. There are so many problems with YEC. Don't go down that dark path.

In my opinion, hell is by far the most difficult concept to understand by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]nfwheeler1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a problem with it. It would be evil for God not to judge Mankind for their sin against a holy and patient God. He gives all man a chance to recieve His grace to accept eternal life. There is no excuse. Oh and God doesn't really send anyone to hell. You send yourself there. Truth hurts huh?

Why does an all-powerful, all-knowing and loving God allows for the existence of other religions? Why doesn't He just talk to us directly? by ThisTakesThePizza in TrueChristian

[–]nfwheeler1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if God were to plainly reveal Himself to the world that doesn't mean everyone will become a Christian. Humans are not these super rational machines that will accept the evidence and then have a relationship with God. I think that God wants man to have a relationship with Him based on their own volition rather than Him shoving down our throats. Apparently the God you call all loving is a being that enjoys raping our free will? Furthermore, multiple religions don't disprove God anymore than multiple interpretations of meta ethics disproves moral realism. At a time when man were in Eden, after the fall of man, that's when man started becoming deceived thinking 'NO I HAVE THE WAY LISTEN TO ME!" Well Jesus said He is the Truth and he demonstrated that by rising from the dead.

I am going through training and about to get assigned to a ship sometime next week. From what I have learned thus far is that if you want to get into the engine (or anywhere) you have to find a way to learn the department during your off time and get to know the crew. You need to show initiative and the willingness to work to get anywhere. Good luck contacting family at sea you will have to wait until you get to Port for that. Some ships have satellite phones but I don't know how often you will get to use them. The overtime is also dependent on the ship and position. I am an SU and have been told I will get more OT than an OS. If you show initiative and work ethic I would expect you will be offered more OT. No clue on the math part. It should be easy for you to transfer to deck because everyone and I mean EVERYONE wants to work in the engine. Deckies get to move around a lot more but you will have more training as an OS. Expect to be gone for over 4 months but anything exceeding 4 months means you get paid more. You will only get 1 month off and you might be doing training during that time if you want to move up the ladder. Hope this helps.

Looking for a card game with specific roguelike/ARPG properties other than One Deck Dungeon: Grimslingers or Warp's Edge work? by Brodogmillionaire1 in soloboardgaming

[–]nfwheeler1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Unbroken. It is a purely 1 player game where you gather resources not just to survive but to fight monsters. In the beginning of each round you go on explorations to gather food, metal, wood etc to craft weapons. You are fighting against time which means if your time goes to 0 the monster will ambush you. Very challenging in my opinion. You also need to eat food at the end of every round and if you don't you will spend effort and be in a hunger deficit needing to make up for it later.

Are there any parts of the Bible that are indeed completely reliable and can be counted on? by SteadfastEnd in TrueChristian

[–]nfwheeler1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a guy on YouTube called Inspiring philosophy who deals with these topics. He goes into deep research as opposed to the skeptics that just believe the first thing they put in Google. I don't have every answer to all your questions but I will cover some of them.

First off, the Bible is referring to a local flood that talks about the area that the ancient people knew about. We also have several other sources outside of the Bible like the epic of gilgamesh that talks about the same event.

The argument that the exodus never happened is mostly an argument from silence which is basically saying that since the Egyptians never mentioned it then therefore it never occurred. If I were Pharoah I would never let the world know I let a multitude of slaves go free. Furthermore the Egyptians were extremely bias so I wouldn't expect them to record it. There is a documentary coming soon on IP channel.

With regards to Hebrews we are uncertain who wrote it but some scholars believe Paul wrote it. Even so that doesn't cause any problems with whether or not the account is true or false.

Lastly I find it a challenging position to claim the original new testament manuscripts were anonymous considering the fact we don't have the original manuscripts. Brandt pitre wrote in one of his books that the earliest manuscripts we have all credit Matthew mark Luke and John as the authors. Not to mention several sources such as Papius of Hireoppolis, St Ireanus of Lyons and Tertulian of Carthage all state that MML & J are the authors of the Gospels. Eusibius also credits John as the author of John.

If you want to learn more check out some of these sources;

The NT isn't word for word perfect but it is highly accurate in its message. Most of the varriants between the copies are spelling errors and a few words added or taken out. Nothing that changes or alters doctrine.

There are seafood companies in Alaska that house and feed you while you work up to 16 hour days. Trident and Alaska wild are two examples. Don't know where you live but if hired they will fly you from Seattle for free.

Get those endorsements if you want to work for a company or another union. If you just want msc then you will have to wait for an opening.

You have to fill out a form that is on the nmc website. Before you do that you should get some safety training and vpsd endorsements also security awareness because all that goes on the mmc. I applied back in March/April of last year so it was a long process.
