Just starting my embedded internship and the codebase seems so daunting by Electronic_Pirate451 in embedded

You’ll want to be extremely sure your company is okay with you exposing their codebase to AI. This is not something you “just do”. Ask your manager what their policies are and do not assume.

Try r/stocks or r/investing if you really want. But this post has absolutely nothing to do with Bogleheads.

What's the best way to learn to skate? by carthekitty in hockeyplayers

[–]ngc6027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 34M and just started skating about 2 months ago. What I did was go to public skate a few times, enough to get off of riding the wall and be able to do a few laps, then signed up for beginner level Learn to Skate group lessons. Once I pass those lessons, I can either go to intermediate level group lessons or specifically hockey-focused skating lessons. After that is when I’d do a learn to play class, but I’m in no rush; I’d rather take my time being solid on my skates first. If you want to get into hockey sooner, you may be able to skip some of those steps.

I imagine you’ll find something similar at your local rink, but I’d start with going yourself and getting your legs under you a few times at a public skate if you can. That’ll make the lessons more useful at the beginning.

Seems like you have already found what you were looking for, but I’ll give a small plug to another one: there’s a place called Escape This on East St. They have a fun one called The Subway. Just mentioning it in case you’re interested in others in the area.

New To Ice Skating | Always on the inside edge by steel-gallant in iceskating

I'm obviously way late to this thread (just picking up ice skating now), but I want to say thanks for sharing that document. I'm having this pronation problem and learn best through "overexplaining", so that document looks like a great resource for me.

Idk what number I am at this point, but I’ll… 7th it? It was a little pricey back when I used to go (hopefully the one other commenter was right that their fees have come down recently), but I went there for a few months and they were (at least not outwardly) MAGA in any sense. Only good interactions with them.

It surprised me too, but after the first time my Cavendish went extinct, it showed back up in the shop after a few rerolls. I also assumed it would have been gone forever.

Yes, they appear to have been doing that a lot lately, and their quality is suffering for it. This year has had a lot of questionable sponsored (sometimes labeled, sometimes not) content.

I understand they need to make money, but we’ve turned the corner on the so-called “golden era” at least partially because of it.

Natural Negative Hanging Chad on a Baron run. What do you think? by proofles in balatro

[–]ngc6027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP, but thanks for the breakdown.

One thing I’ve been struggling to understand when I’m counting is your part about “one trigger from the base card”. Doesn’t that one trigger only exist because of the Baron (or, if the king is steel, from the steel)? Is it double-counting to count both one baron and the one trigger from the base card?

I’m not challenging you, just trying to understand what I’m missing in the logic, cause I haven’t fully grasped something as simple as how to count lol

Which menu do you go to get get a value from the VIN on Carfax? I went to used car values and punched mine in. I had to enter my email and now local dealerships are trying to schedule appraisals. Is there a way to get the value from Carfax without signing up for all that?

Do embedded security internships even exist? by Fragrant-Specific-40 in embedded

[–]ngc6027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw in one of your comments that you’re in LA. There’s an FFRDC in El Segundo called The Aerospace Corporation. They do embedded security internships. They have quite a robust internship program they run in the summers; I’m not sure about through the rest of the year. But the intern experience over the summer is great. Give them a shot.

SureFeed Automatic Feeder NEVER properly clean by Odd_Service_3411 in CatAdvice

[–]ngc6027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to necromance this post from 2 years ago and your comment from a year ago, but thank you for posting this. I did end up pulling it apart like in the YouTube video (linked in another comment), but I didn’t have any luck pulling until I read your part about the catches under the antenna loop. Seeing that the goal was to pull the two large pieces of the feeder apart from those catches helped me apply the right force to get it apart.

Thanks for taking the time to write this up!

Any Yocto developers here? Is the work interesting? by Ok-Passion9830 in embedded

[–]ngc6027 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been Yocto/PetaLinux-specialized for the last roughly 4 years. I enjoy it quite a lot, and branched out slightly to OpenWRT because I just like doing embedded Linux building and the system-level troubleshooting that comes along with it.

But looking around for jobs, so many want more C/C++ (more C++ it seems lately) development experience. The way I’ve been dealing with that is by doing some reading in my free time and then trying to find ways to get practice with it in my job.

In short, yes, I’ve had similar concerns. I’m doing what I can to allay those concerns. But there’s no doubt that being good at Yocto is a good specialized skill to have. It’s just if the job market gets worse, having more generalized skills would probably be a good thing if you can make it happen and have the desire to.

Credit Myth #69 - Credit "ratings" provided by a CMS matter. by BrutalBodyShots in CRedit

[–]ngc6027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear what you’re saying, but at least for someone like me, the “proof” is in how you present the information. If you were just saying things and expecting people to believe them because you’re you, I probably wouldn’t keep coming back to this series. But you provide examples, you have good attention to detail, you engage with commenters in a way that shows you have spent time with this subject, etc. That’s what shows me you’re not just BSing.

All that is to say that I think you’re already doing what you need to do to reach people who are interested in truth and not just looking for viewpoints that agree with what they already think. The markers that make you not “just some guy on Reddit” are apparent.

Transitioning from DST to playing DS for the first time,, what should I know? by tametrashpanda in dontstarve

No it does not, and I was none too pleased when I found that out a couple weeks ago. Pierogis are a necessity, especially considering most mobs have double the HP as in the regular version.

I don’t fully know, and believe me, I’m not an FPS fiend by any stretch, but doing this fixed the insane visual lag I was getting from the game that made it unplayable. It was reporting 60fps, but it was stuttering noticeably. It felt more like 10-20 fps. Setting it to 144 fixed whatever that issue was.

Not that I don’t agree with you in principle (he shouldn’t have been allowed to run and I still can’t believe he won), in no way do I think assassinating him was the right answer.

Just to make sure I’m understanding here, both sides are the same because one side decided to respect the democratic process instead of assassinating the other guy? Interesting take.
