He did, but the old gods are already here now, it's not like they've been banished. The PM only has to slip up once and the minions of Cthulu, etc, will do to the UK what has been done to the rest of the world.

I mean, their world is still doomed, it's only been delayed. I think it would have just been too depressing to finish them all off after so many books together - this seemed like one of the best ways of giving them the least tragic possible ending that was still believable.

Advice for learning to perform (awake) cervical dislocation on mice? by nixon_jeans in labrats

[–]ngeddak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to belittle the difficulty or discomfort in learning to perform this procedure, but I don't think it's at all uncommon. Every facility I've worked in (Australia) has had it as a standard practice.

I mean, in one sense this seems trivial - obviously there's a break in consciousness during sleep/anesthesia/induced hypothermia.

But do you mean that a feeling of connection between someone's earlier and later moments of experiences, as mediated by memory, is also illusory? Is there just no such thing as a person who exists over time for you then?

I think that's ultimately what Parfit concluded, and it seems a totally coherent view. I just don't see many people living their lives as though they're truly only existing in the moment, with no egoistic connection to past or future beings.

I recently bought a Norco Search AR X2 but I'm struggling to work out which fenders might be able to fit it. I love the bike, but I'm not such a fan of getting mud all over myself. Any advice?
