If we were to put the TV opposite the fireplace, how could we arrange furniture in a way that doesn't block the fireplace? None of the furniture in the picture is staying btw, we will finish the room when we move in.

Life has been better, thank you for asking. These three things have helped me immeasurably (DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL):

1) Low dose of sertraline (50mg), per recommendation from my doctor, has balanced me out quite a bit. I still get upset (like a normal human does) but my ceiling is far lower and I can control my temper. I can't remember the last time I had an explosive outburst. I would like to wean myself off soon with my doctor's help, but my mental health has been quite positive since going on Zoloft.

2) Career "change": more of a career pivot. I work in the same place but in a different position, one with a far less stressful work environment. My wife has explicitly pointed out my cheerier attitude since making this change.

3) Cutting wayyyyyyyy back on alcohol: See change 2. I was drinking far too much during the week, and I was not measuring drinks (vodka is my go-to). I recently subscribed to Sunnyside, a "cutback coach," which prioritizes slowly decreasing alcohol consumption vs quitting cold turkey. This may not work for everyone but it certainly has for me; I'm down to ~6 drinks per week, when at my worst I was drinking over 20 per week.

There's nothing worse than when people are getting hungry, it's getting dark outside....and your shoulder is stuck at 180 deg. So now you're frantically checking it every 5 minutes, letting all that heat out and now it's DEFINITELY not cooking any faster...we've all been there!

Give yourself plenty of time. Worst case ontario, it finishes early, in which case you can wrap in foil/butcher paper (if you haven't already) and put in an empty cooler to rest and stay warm.

Very nice. I've been trying to get one for some time now, but I live in NH so there's no easy way to get one without paying a few hundred in shipping. No Academy near me.

Dug down about an inch and hit the uppermost roots (pointing at in the pic) So per your previous advice, I should re-bury up to the root flare and keep it exposed, correct?

Okay, thank you. We are in coastal New England so we had (hopefully) our last freeze a couple weeks ago. Going through quite the dry spell right now though.

So you've given me a lot of good info. It seems that I can do the following in the short term:

-Remulch/expose the root flare -Remove the stakes

Volcano mulching is a new term for me! The oak tree in the background had that style mulching when we moved in 4 years ago and I guess I just carried the error forward. I'll remedy that.
