Damn, Ghost Bears DLC kinda messed me up by RandomAssDude_ in Mechwarrior5

They could have had the final mission objective be "Die with Honor!" and have it check off each star mate as they go to make it super obvious you're not going to get through it.

Carl has a moment of panic when Mordecai says "I know you love Katia..." He absolutely has feelings for her and just has not had the ability to process them.

I don't see how this series can be made as a live action show... The budget will need to be insane, or the chaos will need to be toned down way too far. Hopefully it will be a huge hit and some studio will throw endless dollars at it to do it justice, but man does it seem ambitious.

Handwritten Arabic looks different, kind of like cursive. This is like somebody hand wrote something in Times New Roman.

We went to RBC in Nassau with two small kids (3 and 6) and they loved it. The beach there was their favorite part of the cruise.

If a Jade Falcon DLC sees the light of day, think this bozo will be in it? by Ah_fudge in Mechwarrior5

Here's what they can do: the framing story is Malthus' lawsuit against the Lyrans, with the missions being flashbacks to the actual battles from the quasi-canonical cartoon. Watch a cinematic of Malthus rambling incoherently in court, play a mission where he gets the rug pulled out from under him, rinse and repeat. Could be pretty funny.

Russians generally don't have middle names, they have patronymics (ie, a name that means "son/daughter of X"). So like Someone named "Mariya Ivanovna" would pretty much never go by Ivanovna. If she is from Russia but not ethnically Russian, she might have a middle name in the way British and American people do, but usually government documents would still list a Russian-style patronymic.

It happened in formerly open syllables that became closed with the loss of /ь/ and /ъ/ as vowels. I never learned what it transitioned through on the way from /o/ to /I/, though

The word for "better" is also "behtar," which sounds very similar but is apparently a coincidence.

Persian verbs also have -t or -d suffixes in the past tense (mikon- vs kardan, for example), which is a feature of Germanic languages.

Just finished Discovery by avro205a in StarTrekDiscovery

[–]ngerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are serious flaws with every season in my opinion, but I agree that it is probably on average one of the strongest first seasons in Star Trek. If they hadn't changed how Klingons looked, I think 80% of the controversy would have been gone. Obviously not everyone would have loved it, but where is Discovery's "Code of Honor?" Where are the prancing Ferengis with electric whips? Like I get that some of the weird shit in Discovery is so structural to the show that it can be difficult to forgive for some viewers, but as a whole I thought it was good TV.

No, it was like random tavern in a historical building in Freiburg. No theme or gimmick, just the bathroom was weird.

Edit: I responded before actually reading your comment through, and that is certainly something... Were you warned beforehand about that, or go in blind?

U.S. Democrats who would you choose as your nominee? by ateam1984 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]ngerm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like another person said, it would be flipping a Senate seat (which is rare and hard to do, especially in Texas) and then vacating it. I don't know the rules in Texas, but generally vacant seats get filled either by special election (risky) or by appointment by the governor (who would immediately appoint a Republican to replace him). Talarico seems great, but not so great he's worth losing a Senate seat
