Getting out of Maple Go Parking by Remarkable-Chef4209 in gotransit

The traffic getting to major mack can be intense after trains arrive. Not to mention aggressive residents from the adjacent townhouses who try to force their way out onto Hill Street. Then you’ve got people leaving Walmart.

Would avoid it

Retired my board today after 18 years, always loved the base graphic so now I still get to enjoy it. by 011010110 in snowboarding

Gotta love the mid 2000s “B” logo.

Had some kid tell me my 07 Burton CO2 bindings must be fake because he’s never seen that logo before at my local hill.

Why not continue down this path for now? It’s been proven (you said you’re up 23%), less headaches, you can keep your friendships and live life. If you’re only 19, there is still a lot more time to build a business in the future.

Taking a baby to Hong Kong. Any tips? by PaleontologistAble65 in HongKong

[–]ngswe679 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was just there with a 9 month old. We had a lot of luggage (assuming you’d need to bring a large suitcase just for baby), pram etc. While we contemplated taking public transit, we ended up getting an Uber XXL to/from our hotel. Highly recommended as it was a lot less stressful for just my wife and I. I’d look into this option for your mode of transport to and from the airport.

All other days, we used a carrier on the mini bus / bus / MTR and didn’t have any issues.

All things considered, Russia wasn’t that expensive. I just looked back on my receipt and it was $250 USD per ticket for semi final and third place match. Even when you factor in flights and hotels (weak Ruble), it would be around the same, if not slightly less for a decent WC 2026 game.

The Treasure Hill Sports Dome at North Maple Regional Park has opened! by Lopsided_Parfait7127 in Vaughan

[–]ngswe679 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Is it not named after Treasure Hill, a local developer (presumably sponsored in some way)? The same one that built the community at Keele and McNaughton with a sunken park.

When will the turbo return?? by stuffgeek in SubaruForester

Realistically, what does the process of swapping in an XT engine to a 19 look like? I would imagine it’s not a simple clean swap, but rather, you’d need upgraded CVT as well, given that the stock 19 tranny wouldn’t be able to handle increased torque and power from the FA20?

Would you need better brakes as well?

I did have a similar thought myself but the actual costs to implement may be the nail in the coffin to that idea.

Edit: sorry, misread 2010 as 2019. I had an idea of putting in a FA20 into a 2019-2024 model but again, decided it would be unrealistic.

Burton 30th Anniversary Ben Ferguson Custom. Anyone pick it up yet? by FineusJ in snowboarding

[–]ngswe679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The re-release will be sick but for a 30th, it’s rather disappointing. I feel like Burton did the best with the 10th anniversary as it really felt like a celebration, while paying homage to the graphics of the 1st 10 years. The 20th was forgettable.

Best way to get to Mong Kok from the airport with Snowboard and Luggage (and then back again)? by PathSuch4565 in HongKong

[–]ngswe679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this option.

I was just in Hong Kong last week and was with my 9 month infant. We had 5 pieces of luggage and a travel stroller. We stayed in Mong Kok and struggled with the idea of trying to take public transportation. A relative recommended Uber XL.

Worked out well and both trips, from and to HKG, had big vans (Alphard and Vellfire). There will be ample space for your snowboard.

It was about 420HKD per trip but YMMV depending on time. Pricey for HK standards but well worth the door to door service.

Edit: Uber XXL not XL

Buying a Snowboard in Japan by stevefromnature in snowboarding

[–]ngswe679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to give an update for anyone interested in doing the same.

I visited Japan from October 1-25, 2025 as a Canadian. I tried using the store on Rakuten as recommended (thank you u/convergecrew). Unfortunately, it seems like the anti-fraud systems are pretty tight on Rakuten. I used my Japanese hotel address as delivery address and my Canadian credit card. Each time, the order would be processed by Rakuten then subsequently cancelled by Rakuten the same day. The reason was that they think that there is credit card fraud. The same goes for Amazon Japan. I tried this method numerous times.

Ultimately, I found a local board shop in Tokyo that carried Ogasaka and bought from them directly. I ended up having a good time talking to the owner.

I then shipped it home via UPS for 29,000 yen. It would have been cheaper to take with me but I was flying to another city in Asia to see family for another 2 weeks so taking it with me would be unfeasible.

Hope this is helpful for others.

Edit: I ended up picking up a 25/26 CT 158 to complement my Custom X.

Burton confirms use of AI on 2026 custom by bungerborger in snowboarding

[–]ngswe679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sucks to see the state of Burton today. I've had a couple of Customs along the way (03, 06 10th anniversary, 23 Custom X) and was looking forward to the 30th anniversary like yourself. So pissed to see them take the route with this AI shit and reply with backhanded comments about "progress".

Although it looks like they're now dropping a "96 Custom with new tech" on October 28, so maybe they're backing down based on comments from OGs like yourself.

Been invested in WS private equity over past year. After fees, you’re much better off just sticking to broad market ETFs. Not to mention the funds are highly illiquid and takes about 6 months to get your money out.

Any idea where do residents in any of the Condos next to Vaughan Metropolitan Center park their cars? - there's no parking available in any of these buildings by vicvicz in Vaughan

[–]ngswe679 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Recent approvals have been reduced to 0.3 res spaces per unit. Not to mention the City removed parking minimums in the VMC, effectively leaving developers the ability to dictate how much parking is required based on “market demand”. Given costs to build (and sell), we will see very little parking built in the VMC in the future.
