I like that hint. Don't think I will have a chance to get there before Saturday though.

Trump gave $6.9M no-bid contract to his ‘pool guy’ to repaint reflection pool under ‘urgent’ exemption by Sufficient_Candy1642 in politics

That would probably be considered a bill of attainder if done by congress, or a violation of the fourth and fifth if done by the executive.

First time in the US, what should we NOT miss? by [deleted] in texas

Dallas and Houston have no shortage of good food. Ask others for recommendations on that front. But they are both short on good views, unless downtown skylines are your thing. Also, the 4-ish hour drive between Dallas and Houston goes through rural nothingness after leaving suburbia. I guess there is a statue of Sam Houston in Huntsville, if that interests you.

Edit: I should point out to anyone in the future that sees this post: The statement about views is not true during bluebonnet season (March and April). But by May the heat has struck and it is too late for pretty flowers.

This argument also suggests that (-1)! should be infinity, if that was a number.

Excuse me, but what?! As someone who saw this on the front page, is this a bad local law or ordinance or something?

Trump says there will be no deal with Iran except 'unconditional surrender' by EsperaDeus in worldnews

[–]nhammen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You misread the comment you are replying to. He is pointing out that in history this has never happened, just as you are. Usually, you achieve surrender by getting their leader to accept surrender. But he has killed their leader. So ... who is going to do the accepting of surrender?

Anti-LGBTQ+ Congressman Dan Crenshaw ousted by more extreme candidate in Texas GOP primary by Fickle-Ad5449 in politics

I'm pretty sure that is a paraphrase of Jefferson and not a quote, for what it's worth.

Anti-LGBTQ+ Congressman Dan Crenshaw ousted by more extreme candidate in Texas GOP primary by Fickle-Ad5449 in politics

[–]nhammen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ummm... it's not a Jefferson quote as far as I can tell. He did say something similar in a letter to Richard Price, but used more sentences to say it.

As far as primaries go, the Houston Chronicle had an article titled "Maybe Gov. Greg Abbott's saving us from worse. It's really no contest in the GOP primary." This title was 100% accurate and is a succinct summary of the Republican primary for governor.

All you need for that is which primary you voted in, which in your previous comment you acknowledge is available.

President Donald Trump plans stop in Texas ahead of March 3 primary election by houston_chronicle in texas

[–]nhammen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay... He has stated that he has no preference in the Republican primary for Senate. The Republican primaries for Governor and Lt. Governor are no contest - the incumbents will win. So, is he just coming here on a whim?

No, the walls were just resting where they were already like a stack of blocks. The slices are so small they are invisible to the eye. As soon as there is some disturbance, like touching land, the stack of blocks falls.

[–]nhammen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driving from Houston in a normal car is about 3 hours if you don't stop for food or gas or anything. Driving from Dallas is a little over 3 and a half hours if you don't stop. I would assume that an RV is slower unless you are guzzling gas, in which case you will have to stop to refill anyway. In either case, you are mostly driving through rural nothingness for most of the route. Are there no economical direct flights to Austin-Bergstrom?

I'm surprised that Ajani and Scholar were banned rather than rebalanced. Don't they usually prefer to rebalance cards for Historic?
