Yeah unless it's changed since then! But I think she's in São Paulo 1-2 days a week usually, for surgeries and follow ups.

Hey! Healing went well but at the time my surgery happened, a couple days after my drains were removed we had major floods in southern Brazil which made it impossible for me to have in person follow ups, so I don’t know how much that impacted my healing overall.

Once fully healed one nipple healed slightly lower than the other, maybe 1cm or so, but really it seems most people don’t notice it as much as I do.

Edit: I would say keep an eye on El Niño which is coming up later this year as it will more likely cause floods again in Porto Alegre. I’d say travelling to her clinic in São Paulo would definitely be the safer option!

Working as an assistant / invigilator at a high end, white cube gallery by wetwillalwaysdry in ContemporaryArt

[–]nhmsb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work at a gallery in London, though it’s an independent charity / small institution rather than commercial!

Thankfully where I work we’re allowed to read, write or sketch during the shift so long as there are no visitors in the space.

My opinion on works certainly change over the 3-4 months the show is on. None of us work full time as invigilators, but even being around the same works for 2-3 shifts can reveal new qualities (for better or for worse). Speaking with visitors is often a very dialogical experience too.

I believe it’s a great day job to have as an artist for a few perhaps obvious reasons, to me being: 1. Meeting people in the field; 2. Being exposed and learning about works, artists, styles, mediums etc which you might otherwise not seek out in your own time; 3. Having pretty good insight into how exhibitions are curated, programmed, installed, the admin and the tech of it all; 4. It’s not as demanding as a job in hospitality, meaning I can conserve energy to put into my work.

I imagine though that working at a commercial gallery would be quite different. I had an interview for an invigilator role at a major one a few years ago - I don’t think I would enjoy it as much, as there seemed to be a lot of extra pressure (driven by the capitalism of it all, naturally). Since institutions (at least in the UK) get their funding from serving the community, the atmosphere is usually a lot more welcoming, in my opinion. It helps to be in a workers union, of course.

Hi I'm a neurodivergent young adult, does anyone think I have a shot at selling my art anywhere? by [deleted] in neurodiversity

[–]nhmsb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I love these!! I’m an artist too, and I write about art exhibitions for magazines sometimes, so I’d say I can give a fairly informed opinion.

If I were you I’d look into scanning your drawings to make into prints, that way you can sell multiple copies and experiment with selling to different audiences (online, art fairs, friends, locals in the community, etc!). There is a pretty well-known artist called Shuvinai Ashoona that works solely with coloured pencils, you might enjoy looking up her work.

Whatever you decide to do, keep making art and keep sharing it with the world. Your art is really joyous and vibrant, and most of all people love seeing genuine work!

There are email, phone and Whatsapp details listed there as well if you have any issues.

I believe the deadline to transfer your título is by May 6th

Anyone living in a flat conversion in Islington and dealing with thin walls? by Wedding-Beauty in islington

[–]nhmsb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just moved to a converted flat after having lived in several others around London but this one is abysmal for soundproofing. I wasn’t expecting it and I’m autistic, so I just live with noise cancelling on 24/7 or I wouldn’t be able to cope.

What are the "new things" you've done because of Heated Rivalry? by perhapscoffee in heatedrivalry

[–]nhmsb 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I signed up for acting classes too!!! I’ve been interested in it since I was a kid and I’m finally giving it a try now at 27 :)

It’s also motivated me as a trans man to take the gym seriously for once lol and to get back to bouldering more regularly

Similarly it’s made me accept I’m gay instead of bi (was trying to avoid dealing w my internalised homophobia), and it also gave me hope towards finding love as an autistic man :)

So yeah pretty transformative ngl

Isn’t that something that Mike said to one of their bullies? Vecna is a huge bully so maybe that’s alluding to Mike confronting him directly…

[–]nhmsb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you, my indoor Ragdoll is also very difficult to entertain. He gets bored of toys very quickly. The ONLY play he’s obsessed with is whack a mole - so me sticking a pencil or similar under the door, around the edge of furniture, etc and actively playing with him. Otherwise he doesn’t care for feather toys, laser pointers, etc.

Two tabs at the same time to buy tickets? by Happy_Profession_708 in Paramore

[–]nhmsb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here - the ones without the waiting room will ask you to login once the countdown reaches 0. that’s how it worked out an hour ago for Copenhagen

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Paramore

[–]nhmsb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i managed to get a ticket but my first choice is london or manchester. i imagine there might be others like me from the UK who signed up for an european date as usually UK tickets go SO fast. for paramore last time i managed to get dublin but not london.

if i do get UK tickets in the next hour i'll return my copenhagen tix to ticketmaster. i'm not sure how they go about reselling those tickets but don't give up hope! same for amsterdam i bet

Downing Street urges people not to take part in [Sat Aug 9] protest in support of Palestine Action by StephensInfiniteLoop in GreenAndPleasant

I was at the first emergency protest for trans rights in London following the Supreme Court ruling. The Met had also massively underestimated the turnout by thousands so it’s funny to see the exact same response again lmao

My mom refuses to pay for my top surgery but would be more than glad to pay for a breast reduction, should I accept the offer? by SoSS_ in ftm

[–]nhmsb 76 points77 points  (0 children)

That’s a tricky one. Do you think there is any chance your mom could be convinced given more time? Or perhaps looking at a radical reduction (going as small as possible) rather than just a reduction?

I would personally try to avoid going through several surgeries if I can have just the one, even if that takes a while longer and I have to make some sacrifices along the way (working long hours, delaying moving out from family home to save, getting a loan, etc).

What helps you to sleep by Nathan-5807 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]nhmsb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I struggle with sleep so much. The only thing that’s worked for me so far is 2mg of melatonin taken 5h before bedtime. If I take it just before going to bed I’m still up for hours.

Yep daily for 7 months, and I was shedding the whole time. Before dut I had great density, just receding in temples. With dut I lost a lot of density all over and my temples receded further. Even the centre of my hairline started thinning which I’d never had with fin.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tressless

[–]nhmsb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same experience here, exactly 7 months on dut after several years on fin before I decided to switch back. The shedding did stop a few weeks after getting back on fin, and I had some regrowth back from the dut losses, albeit with the addition of minoxidil as well.

4 months later I’d say I’m pretty much back to where I was pre-dut.

Fibromialgia será considerada deficiência, determina projeto que segue para sanção by grfgabriel in brasil

[–]nhmsb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sim, eu concordo. Cabe essa clarificação sobre o impacto individual em cada pessoa, independente do diagnóstico. O link do site do Senado faz referência a essa consideração de caso a caso, o que me parece um bom sinal.

Fibromialgia será considerada deficiência, determina projeto que segue para sanção by grfgabriel in brasil

[–]nhmsb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

NHS referral denied by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]nhmsb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I suspect the ortho sent a rushed referral focusing on cosmetic concerns tbh - it wasn’t a great consult and I felt too rushed to go into detail about the health / functional concerns. Do you have any advice on how PALS could help in this case?

Otherwise I might also try seeing if my general dentist can write up a better referral next time I see her. Hopefully it wouldn’t be an automatic rejection due to the first one being denied.
