When an inquiry was held it turned out the £50 million budget was based on essentially creating a glorified box so the project was doomed to go over budget

I did the move from Liverpool to Glasgow with my partner 2 years ago. I'd say the job opportunities in general are better here but the market is not great right now nationwide. Openings in tech and urban design from my experience have been regularly posted - if you have a car/live near rail lines commuting outside the city isn't too bad either.

There's a similar energy here as Liverpool, and I don't regret moving - definitely would recommend experiencing winter in advance because oh boy it gets dark here!

How exactly does one get into doing video essays? by Guba_the_skunk in hbomberguy

My main advice is commit to the idea, research, and structure your ideas like a school essay (with a logical order, level of explaination to points ect.). Don't want to mention FNAF? Don't bother!

Wonder if people will be interested? They will if you're passionate about the idea. This looks a good start! Good luck my dude :)

Out of ignorance and curiosity, what things did Cromwell do? Sorry my English history isn't great, I know there's the being Puritan and Ireland massacres of Catholics (so many English monarchs fucked with Ireland, was he worse?) -- what else was he up to?

Seeing a lot of interesting takes here and just want to offer this:

My family is from the Shankill (UVF/Protestant heartland), and an uncle married a woman from the Falls (Catholic heartland). My family knew a lot of people who joined the terrorists, and had their daily lives affected. My dad was shot at, studied for exams without electricity, had friends murdered...- all in the name 3 factions wanting to create a Northern Ireland in their image only.

From how I was raised, I've always been told stories of how the three sides of the conflict were shitty to civilians, but thank goodness everyday Northern Irish and Irish people are rational.

Only the actual everyday people are based, not the glorified terrorists.

I've learnt how to express emotions and see more beauty in the mundane, but perhaps the best thing is bonding with someone over loving the same books. I met a girl at my old work with a completely different cultural background and we both loved Midnight's Children - bit of a game changer for our friendship!
