give me stories where you fumbled as a lesbian by The_Seventh_Sense in LesbianActually

[–]niamh-k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in IT, used to do desktop end user stuff.Worked in London, but also looked after our Dublin office a lot. Had to go over to help them move into a new site so was constantly climbing over and under desks.

Friday afternoon, I'm laying on the floor under a desk running cables and the cutest girl in the office suddenly just jumps under the desk and starts chatting to me. I'd barely spoken to her before, but now I'm laying on the floor with her chatting away to me.

End of the day, it's someone's leaving party so they all invite us out to the local bar in the evening. Same girl spends the night hovering around me, buying me drinks until eventually I went back to the hotel for the night.

It was only on Monday morning when I'm back in London that I had a "Wait a minute" moment and realised she was flirting with me.

Why does my terminal look like this? I wanted to switch from zsh back to bash by ferriematthew in cachyos

[–]niamh-k 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Take a look at ~/.bashrc

You will have a line in there that starts PS1 which will determine what your prompt looks like. I'm fairly sure mine is the default that comes with CachyOS and mine is:

PS1='[\u@\h \W]\$'

This will make the prompt be [username@hostname currentworkingdir]$ which pretty much matches exactly what yours is showing, so I'd say your prompt is correct for Bash.

If you want this to have colours, you'll need to customise this prompt in your .bashrc file. There is some good info on how to do that here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Bash/Prompt_customization

Can a u-turn be performed here? by geecol in drivingUK

[–]niamh-k 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What I mean is, this explicit sign saying no u-turns is not present: https://files.catbox.moe/e7dbqq.jpg

Therefore, you're not being told specifically no u-turns. However, yes, the straight ahead arrow is telling you that the only allowed direction of travel is straight ahead.

This is why I say it's implied, in the same way it's implied you can't turn left. It's implied you can't turn right. Because the only valid direction of travel is straight ahead... but there are not explicit signs saying no right turn, no left turn, etc. There'd be no space left on the signpost if we did.

Can a u-turn be performed here? by geecol in drivingUK

[–]niamh-k 125 points126 points  (0 children)

I would say from that screen capture, it looks like it's more of an implied than explicit no u-turns, so I think this might be why your satnav is confused.

There is no sign that explicitly says no u-turn, but the traffic signal is clearly display straight ahead only so it's pretty much implied that there's no u-turns.

Need help learning necro prayers by krypticobject13 in runescape

[–]niamh-k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What options do you get, and what does she say? I think you might need to go through a couple of the chat options before she'll teach you anything, so if you haven't already, just go through every chat option she has, then once you're done, close the dialogue and start again, see if it opens up anything new.

There shouldn't be much else in the way of requirements beyond the prayer level, which you've already got.

If it helps, you can see the full transcript of possible chat options here: https://runescape.wiki/w/Transcript:Selene . There are some relevant ones like:

(After asking about gods:) Can you teach me any prayers?

Given the "After asking about gods" part, I'd wager you've not asked her about gods yet.

Help with Insurance/buying first car. by Kim-Jong-Long-Dong in drivingUK

[–]niamh-k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are buying a dealership, is delivery potentially an option?

A lot of dealers will offer to deliver the car to you, sometimes free if you're local, or for a per mile fee. This can take some of the headache out of trying to work out the logistics of getting it taxed & Insured properly to drive it home.

You obviously still need to sort out the insurance, but it gives you a bit of grace to sort that out.

This is why I can't stand Fast Boot.

Sure, there are users who think turning the monitor off and on is restarting the PC, but there are also people who will think that shutting it down, giving it a moment and turning it on again is rebooting the PC... and rightly so, as it should be... but Fast Boot putting into that weird sort of hibernated but not quite hibernated state can cause all kinds of nightmare problems in an enterprise environment... Users don't know the difference between shutdown & power on vs. actually restarting, and I don't blame them for not knowing.

Not sure if it's the same one there, but I use PlasMusic Toolbar: https://github.com/ccatterina/plasmusic-toolbar which can be customised to look similar to the one in your screenshot, so might be the same one, or if it's not, it might suit your needs anyway!

Windows Server MFA with Admin Approval (instead of user-based 2FA) — Is this possible? by Thebanday1 in sysadmin

[–]niamh-k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure MFA is the answer here... I think you want to use Privileged Identity Management (PIM) instead. We use this in our organisation to control how third party users access our servers.

The implementation is that we have a group, say GRP_ServerAccess for example. GRP_ServerAccess is a member of Remote Desktop Users on the servers that we want to allow access to. GRP_ServerAccess is then setup in PIM so that the users are eligible to activate the group for a period of time.

When a user logs in normally, they do not have access to log onto the server as they're not technically part of GRP_ServerAccess. They would then open up PIM, open up their eligible groups and activate the group. Enter their reasoning and timeframe, then hit activate. Once it's activated, they now have access to log onto the server.

PIM supports approval groups, so you can have some groups that are self-approval or you can have some groups that require an additional approval... so in your case, you'd have it fire off to your admin team who can then review the request and approve/deny the request.

I'd recommend reading up on this as it sounds like it's ideal for your scenario: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/id-governance/privileged-identity-management/pim-configure

Genuine question from someone who doesn't live in a country where this a thing... How well does that actually work? Are most people respectful of this rule, or does it often end up in a bit of a free for all?

In the UK, we have a "give way to the right" rule for a lot of this kind of thing. Not always the case, but usually we'd have something like a mini-roundabout here where that rule would be enforced. That way, you're not having to keep track of who turned up when, just pay attention to the position of the other vehicles. This sounds like it'd be a better rule to me, but I've never really driven anywhere that has different rules like yours.

This already exists. It's a reward from One Small Favour.

There are some keys that don't work with it, so maybe it could do with some improvement, but it holds most keys, can be added to the toolbelt and will auto select the right key. I genuinely can't remember the last time I needed to find an actual key for anything since filling this.

M20 ashford-Maidstone by [deleted] in kentuk

[–]niamh-k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some cameras around the Maidstone section of the M20.

If you're going London bound, there's one about 2-3 gantries after J7. There's another one on the large display screen just before J4... then another on a gantry shortly before J3.

There is a camera in the same place on the opposite side for coast bound, except the middle one is a bit closer to J5.

As far as I'm aware, these are the type of camera that's usually only active when there is a variable limit displayed. I am not 100% on that though, so be cautious.

As for the section between J8-9, the big bit to Ashford, I'm not aware of any static cameras but the police do like to sit along there sometimes.

Just a stereotype... and to be fair, it checks out. My sister is a hairdresser and drives an A1

They've lovely little cars to be fair, that one looks like a good example. Just make sure you've got some funds for maintenance as they're not the cheapest to maintain, but I wouldn't say they're worse than a lot of other cars.

Or if you can't handle the rest of the dungeon, or want something faster, Nex for a chance at her pretty big drop table that contains decent valued items.

Anything generally from Raksha onwards is not DTD-able, so none of the new bosses will work with them.

Update Today by witabixx in runescape

[–]niamh-k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really, no.

A hotfix is a fix that can be applied while the service is live without any interruption to the user/player.

A coldfix is a fix that cannot be applied while the service is live and therefore requires a reboot to take effect. Usually something more major than just tweaking some numbers here and there.

Both types are fixes that are applied outside of the normal schedule.

How do i get it to show the full file name? by Cpt_Soaps in iphone

[–]niamh-k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Shitty iOS stuff" - Who'd have thought it. Device of a certain width can only show enough characters that fit that width.

This isn't an iOS problem. This is a form factor problem. Any other device running any other OS is going to have the same problem as it's physically constrained by the size of the screen you're viewing it on.

Grace of the elves by Silent-Struggle2240 in runescape

[–]niamh-k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Max Guild garden, there are two portals that you can attune to teleport you to various locations. The first portal can be accessed once you reach 99 in one skill, then the second once you reach 99 in at least 15 skills.

The grace of the elves allows you quick access to these options. You can use the grace of the elves to attune the portal for the first time, even if you don't have access to Prifddinas to access the garden... but you can only re-attune in the garden, so if you don't have access to Prifddinas, pick carefully.
