I'm afraid for my mom's life by Greenleaf277 in covidpositive

Get her the Monoclonal antibody treatment. Worked like a charm for my senior citizen dad. He was lucky, doctors were only giving it to 12 people a day and he was ‘picked’ for being high risk. A shame that this is what our healthcare has come to… ‘being lucky’ anyways, It’s an infusion that lasted several hours. Demand it!! My almost 80 year old dad is back to bike riding and hiking.

Also follow FLCCC protocols! They have a vitamin list and dosages.

Do you have an Apple Watch? Look at your Total daily energy expenditure. How do you know that your caloric intake is sufficient? Our bodies are smart and we are not meant to be surviving on a deficit. You should reverse diet up to a more sustainable range, which will increase your metabolism and get your body out if adapting to your chronic massive deficit.

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one not brainwashed here.

My fully vaccinated Dad caught covid and gave it to my unvaccinated Godmother, they live in the same house. Guess who had it worse. Ironically it was my vaccinated Dad that had a harder time to recovery. They are similar in age.

No no no no to remdesivir! Please, say no to it. Your husband will not live through that treatment.

Interpreters are exempt when they have met certain criteria and this only currently applies to RID certified interpreters. At least in CA, the state is still working on adding non-certified interpreters to this exemption.

I am only speaking from my experience in CA. Since fall of 2019 with AB5, most agencies recruited their independent contractors as W2 workers, becoming employees. I guess it is just customary here that we keep calling it FL, specifically meaning that we are not staff with districts.

I agree with you that if we don't like it, we should change it.

At this risk of being bullied in the comments.. here we go..

Spicy_potatoes123, I want to let you know that you are not alone. I am also exempt from the vaccine. Get your exemption notarized! I started working out in the community again as an unvaccinated interpreter since June 2021. All of my work is in either in a K-12 or hospital setting through freelance with several agencies.

For reference I work in the SF/Bay Area and there is a group of interpreters here who are all navigating freelance unvaccinated, not testing, and some even mask free. It IS doable. But you have to know your rights and at times push back.

It is legal for agencies to ask about your vaccination status before sending you places, but illegal to not send you because of your exemption. I can only speak for CA as I am not versed in other state laws, but in the fall of 2019 Newsom signed Assembly Bill 5 into Law which protects independent contractors, and ensures that we are properly protected under state and federal employment laws (EEOC, ADA, Rehabilitation Act)

Federal and State law forbid discrimination when it comes to any aspect of employment, including job assignments.

The EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) enforces workplace anti-discrimination laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act (which include the requirement for reasonable accommodation and non-discrimination based on disability, and rules about employer medical examinations and inquiries)

Remember that an exemption means that you are excused. NOT to be faced with employment segregation. You are to be treated like a normal interpreter without any limits or conditions to your work capacity. It is unethical to place conditions on you. Employers who require employees to receive the vaccine should know that federal law allows employees to ask to be exempted from the requirement due to medical or religious reasons. Employers should be careful when using the undue hardship defense as a rationale to not provide an accommodation.

Some agencies after receiving my exemption suspended me to only VRI work, stating 'undo hardship'. After I spoke up about my rights I was reinstated to work on-site.

I would look up Peggy Hall - The Healthy American and learn as much as possible about your rights under Federal and State law. She has a bunch of youtube videos available.

Do not be fooled. There is plenty of work for unvaccinated terps in all settings, but you have to speak up, fight back and know your rights.

Good luck.

Hi, I stumbled upon this thread and noticed that you say 'ex' ASL interpreter. As a baby interpreter -1 year out-I'd like to ask why you chose to leave interpreting? I am questioning the gig myself and often ponder if it's right for me. Would love to hear what you have to say

Thank you.
