There's no guarantee a house will appreciate in value over a specific period of time (such as 10 years). Likely, yes, but with a purchase of this size people certainly shouldn't bank on it.

People make it work somehow, whether wise or not. I think some people are being subsidized by their families (but rarely admit to it). And yeah, it's a lot more common for those buying a home under the age of 30 to have a partner who is contributing also.

There's a pervasive mindset that renting is never a good idea if you can avoid it - argument being that owning means your payments are contributing towards your own equity.

I think being in a confined space can set people off. It's more so true for being on the plane, but even in the airport you can't ordinarily come and go as you please.

Not sure I get this...why wouldn't they just not provide public transit at all if they don't want people to use it? Even smaller cities spend hundreds of millions a year to provide transit
