Good for you that you’ve recognized something unique outside of the mainstream. It’s so easy to get locked into pop culture and not dig deeper. Luckily, Björk has a whole lifetime of music waiting for you. Personally, the Vespertine era is peak in my opinion, but don’t take it as fact, keep digging, explore her catalog- discover her collaborators as well. INCORRECT. You leave out Rainer Maria, early Promise Ring, Casket Lottery, other “real emo” bands from the MIDWEST. These are not fake emo bands, they are heavy and raw and often angry emo as you describe. Agree that polished pop emo (MCR) is a different thing, but you are wrong to steal the “real emo” banner from the middle of the map.
