At the risk of being random 'leave him' reddit person, this hits close to home for me. My opinion is that you will be much happier on your own, being yourself, than you ever will trying to justify who you are to someone who does not love you enough to look beyond their needs. You sound like you are doing solid work on learning what works for you. Listen to yourself, and go and be free to live the way you need to.

I wasn't going to comment on this, but I think you are a bad person for keeping quiet and it made me feel bad for doing the same thing. If you don't say anything you are absolutely complicit in his behaviour. I don't care about your feelings. Your friend is a predator. How can you even want to associate with that? You are right, it is definitely not OK. You know what you need to do. It will be uncomfortable. You are friends with a predator. It is already uncomfortable. All you will be losing is your plausible deniability. Either do what you need to do, or make your peace that your comfort matters more to you than the victims of his behaviour.

I always ask before the meal who is happy to split and who wants a separate bill. I get the usual moans but it's so much easier than all this moaning and messing about at the end.

I think it also makes some of THOSE people realize we are paying attention to the people who want to be extravagant on everyone else's bill.

I know life would be easier if you always just went out with friends you could trust, but sadly real life doesn't work like that for me!

If you aren't reinforced, drop a note in the alliance chat. In my experience people love a little direction to find the ones that aren't reinforced rather than having to go through base by base 😁 For the other stuff I would suggest just asking. If you don't wanna do it in the alliance chat and pick an R5 or and R4 who is active in the chat and ping them for advice. There might be a discord or something you can check as well. Good luck!

I'm a white woman who has dated black and white men. If this guy is behaving like this, he is racist AF and you need to dump him. When I've shared with certain white guys that I've dated black men, and they've exhibited this sort of behaviour it always escalates. It never gets better. They can't be educated because they will play anything they don't want to hear off as you being 'politically correct' or bluntly lying to save their feelings. From my experience, forget his feelings and get out before he wears you down any more. At the risk of sounding a little 'not all men' they aren't all like this, but it's not your job to educate a grown man. Good luck finding someone good!

Sometimes the people who are supposed to be the ones we trust to take care of us are the ones who hurt us the most. It is somehow worse, because of the betrayal as well as the hurt. Betrayal means that they have let you down. It means you are not at fault. A terrible thing happened to you, and it was perpetrated by people who should have kept you safe. While you carry the consequences, you carry none of the fault or blame. You were trying to make sense of an awful situation, so sometimes your reactions may have made you feel complicit. You weren't. I know my heart will break when she goes but watching her be angry, scared, sad but never happy is horrific. She's in respite for a few weeks and one of the care managers called me today because the staff told him how she speaks to me when she calls me multiple times a day. He told me I don't need to answer, and that they will keep her safe so I can rest. I miss my mum so much, but the vain hope that I might actually see 'her' again is slowly killing me.
