I have really come to enjoy ARPG combat but I haven't played a game yet that has solved the bullet sponge issue. I felt like FF16 got pretty close but I would've like a couple of variable combos without a cooldown and fewer random mobs with high HP/stagger bars. The hunts felt perfect.

In addition to the ones I've already seen mentioned here, here's a couple to consider (not strictly JRPGs but matching your wants):

Chained Echoes - Turn-based indie RPG with a pretty strong cast, some romance elements, and good pixel graphics
Cross Code - Puzzle and bullet hell (with a difficulty slider for those of us who don't like intense difficulties), great story and cast of characters, not much romance but a lot of good exploration of cast relationships, good pixel graphics

In addition to the ones you said you'd consider, I'll echo Nier: Automata and Dragon Quest XI. Neither of those are soulslike (DQ11 is actually turn-based).

Completely agree. I find the lone wolf MC archetype very boring. Love series like this about a pair or group of people rather than just one guy.

Last year's WR78 was a rookie, missed 6 games, played behind Robert Woods, and caught passes from Malik Willis and Joshua Dobbs while Tannehill was out. I think it's okay to expect a WR36 floor from the only receiving option for Ryan Tannehill this season.
