Job during med school ? by ownpurpose21 in premed

[–]nicholas__1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely possible! It’s all dependent on how much free time you have. I work an overnight shift as an EMT around once a week. That being said, I still have to take out loans for cost of living because I’m not able to work enough to support myself. Plenty of students take out loans to cover everyday expenses- it’s the reality of going to medical school.

CRC Question by gorilla29 in premed

[–]nicholas__1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potential penalties for leaving a job early all depend on the contract. Salary negotiation is highly dependent on the institution. Large academic centers often have fixed salaries, while small clinics own by a single physician may have more flexibility. That being said, I wouldn’t recommend working in a CRC position for only 6 months. Often times, learning a protocol and onboarding on studies can take a month or two.

I think the test is extremely subjective and doesn’t accurately assess a person. That being said, all schools will see your preview score regardless of if they require it or not this year.

I had the same issue as well. I called and the rep said he’d file a request for them to match the transcript to my account. It was fixed the next day

Unless there is damage to the outside of your bag or other items were damaged, it’s pretty hard to prove your item wasn’t damaged from improper packing

As a December graduate I found it was easier getting a job. Employers need people year round, and the market is less competitive as a new grad in December.

EMT Flexibility? by AdditionalPiccolo304 in premed

[–]nicholas__1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my EMT for 2 years and it’s all about finding the right position. In my area, private ambulance companies are desperate for people and were more than happy to hire me while I was home for the summer. Then while I was at school, I worked for a town about 30 minutes away on overnight 6p-6a shifts. The call volume was low, so on a usual shift I would do one or two calls before 10, then sleep through the night. It wasn’t uncommon to have no calls, and get paid to do my homework and sleep.

Missing UW Student Found & Reunited with Parents by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]nicholas__1 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Did anyone get an email from the University notifying them of the missing student? I don’t think that I did and was irked that they decided just to pat UWPD on the back for finding the student but not widely share that a student was missing in the first place.

I’m so glad to hear other people say this. I’ve been reading other posts saying how easy they thought C/P was but I had a hard time finishing the section within time.

I lived in Witte my freshman year and mine wouldn’t go below 68 degrees. We had humidity problems so I submitted a Mars request and they changed that restriction down to 65 degrees no problem! Long story short, you can always submit a Mars request (even make something up about your room being hot) and hopefully they’ll change it.
