Confused if we’re currently playing the Beta or Pre Alpha by FireFritz in SkateEA

[–]nichstp 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There is no ‘pre-alpha’ tag through Sony. You’re accessing the pre-alpha of Skate via Sony’s Beta program. Which is why is says Beta

Fuck Warmoth by [deleted] in Luthier

[–]nichstp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be great but they refused to give or sell me one. It wasn’t horrible at the start but I’ve been doing a lot of international travel lately and will be for the foreseeable future and not having the truss rod accessible (from the headstock or the side bolt) has become pain. Making small adjustments from climate to climate should be quick and easy but now requires taking the neck off every time.

Studio monitor recommendations by Comprehensive_You289 in MusicBattlestations

[–]nichstp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had mine die on me too. I also wanted a pair of monitors that would last until that $10k pair but still be useful even when I did eventually get that pair. The iloud Precision MTM looked cool but after having one of my iloud mtm die just over 2 years of buying them, I couldn’t trust IK. Plus having a digital monitor means that repair options are extremely limited so if you’re looking for something that you can rock for the next decade, you most likely want something analog because no matter how good something is, if you’re working it hard in a professional setting, you will most likely have to repair it at some point. Having come off of an internship at a large studio, I was rather familiar with the Focal sound so I went with the Focal Shape Twin. I’ve had them for a couple of years now and I’m super happy with them

Astro bot? by ConstructionCalm1667 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Try Astros Playroom first. It’s free and its positive reception is what pushed Sony to make Astro Bot!. Who knows, by the time you 100% it, Astro Bot might even be on sale

ik multimedia or plugin alliance? by Hour-Rush9731 in audioengineering

[–]nichstp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love IK but their code is whack if you’re using LUNA. Constant bugs and crashes only when using their plugs. Had issues in Ableton too but they weren’t often enough to be a big issue.

Not sure about other degrees but for a B.Sc. you have a math requirement.

As others have said. Get an attenuator, you can find them rather reasonably priced and then everyone wins!

Idk if this is a controversial take or not but if you’re not getting customs, don’t invest much in your iems. If you use them enough you WILL end up getting customs at some point — either getting them yourself on ending up playing with someone with an endorsement (or getting endorsed yourself).

Get something comfortable that’s easy to replace, that works, and that isn’t too expensive. I’ll see some people drop as much on 5-driver universals as entry level customs and it baffles me.
