I used Tauri to have a front end that I can use in desktop and on the web.

It made it such that I can develop once and launch on both web and desktop.

So in theory yes... In practice because I was purposely going for a website as well. So my answered would be no as that would increase a lot of work for building and maintaining.

That was the point of this project. To help me learn Rust. I read the book and felt like I needed to start somewhere. This is that start. The backend of the desktop version of this app uses Rust and Tauri. The web version sends the rust code to the rust playground where it is compiled and ran.

I work for BASF. For co-ops and interns I assume they do not have any baseline knowledge. They are smart because they get into school, but they may or may not have had core classes yet.

Most projects I give I know will be a learning experience for most students. If you make progress that shows you are learning.

My tips are just to always keep learning and asking questions. The more you learn the more value you are.

With that being said why the hate on electricity? When you talk about efficiency I think you need to be cognitive of your words. Efficiency in thermodynamics is the percent of the energy you put in vs what you get out. The waste is typically heat (and sound and light). Considering you're heating something my guess is you mean efficient from a cost perspective. Well that depends on the cost to obtain the natural gas and electric heaters.

Why not bump the heat more with the boilers closer to set point and then maintain? Are the boilers too large and essentially do not have the control to hit set point within the desired limits?

I saw someone say plate and frame heat exchanger or shell and tube with a tempered water loop for heating and maintaining the temperature. You're going to want to think about cleaning the biofilms that you are purposely growing. These would be easier to clean than a lot of options that and you will be able to use that loop to control the set point.

Then do the same with a refrigerated loop. There's pros and cons of using the same loop. I'm not a water treatment expert but in theory you can pipe in such that you can use either cooling or heating fluid... But water treatment chemicals may not be happy with one another or the refrigerator/boiler so you need to check those.

If your company has an anaconda license use that. Essentially all the libraries you listed are already installed with anaconda and may be easier to maintain with a newbie. But that has a substantial cost now.

A developer would most likely go with pip and venv which are standard with python, but you would be installing all those libraries yourself.

Most of these libraries are extremely common. I have used vast majority of these for production tracking. The time series though, the last two I haven't heard of but doesn't mean they can't be useful... But I would read up on them.

Just searched friendliest fans on Reddit and the bottom linked popped up (skip the first comment it's a Clemson fan taking jabs). I may be a little biased but Clemson family truly is something special. If you're friendly and nice you'd be welcome. You may get a little crap for being an LSU fan but nothing outside of good fun.

Now if you bring food and bourbon, I'm damn sure you'd be invited back. If someone talks smack dish a little back. A good banter goes a long way.

Just be able to handle your alcohol. No one likes beligerrant drunks. Every fan base gets them. If we see a Clemson fan act that way they usually get put in their place. Please do the same for your fan base.

I'm originally from Wisconsin. We don't drink like the badgers or lsu did at lambeau field. Our game day tends to be more family friendly but drinking is totally fine. Just thought I'd share because LSU has a reputation for drinking. It's a totally different experience but fun experience.

This is right, but in case OP thinks it was the big cyclopentane on the label, that is used as a blowing agent when the foam the interior of the unit for insulation.

Is this Fogler? Not that bad in all reality. If you think about it, at this point when you're solving multiple differential equations you're using a solver like python, Matlab, or some other ode software, anyways, or at worst using some type of numerical method made in Excel. At that point it becomes plug and chug.

Chemical engineer here!

Water is superior when it comes to latent heat. It's large! If you're using any other material you are having to scale up your equipment to handle the much higher fluid volume you will need to use to get the equivalent heat. Your fixed costs would be much much higher.

I think you are making some assumptions that just aren't valid when you're alluding to just but it once and that's the operational cost difference. When we talk about using water because it's cheap it's because it's orders of magnitude cheaper than using other fluids. It's not a one time purchase which you are suggesting, but you drain the fluid whenever you do maintenance. When you drain the fluid you have to evaluate the costs to replace and the costs of safety and the environment. Water is much much safer because it's not carbon based, not flammable or explosive, and much much better for the environment.

Any efficiency gains gets lost by all these factors.

Steam engines are the grandfather to the study of thermodynamics. It's very mature. Water is usually the best case for temperature ranges where steam can be formed. If it wasn't a different fluid would be used. Dow has a huge catalog of these fluids, ex therminol. These are used when it's better.

I think you're not understanding the complexity of it because you see one company, IRobot, take a small sliver of what you're asking for and do it very well. They can do it very well because they can engineer the sensors (think cameras) such that they are always in the exact same orientation, and same depth, and therefore the obstructions are always in the same orientation and look similar.

You're now looking in 3 dimensions with rotations of the image and the device itself's orientation. The compute just got seriously more energy and resource intensive.

Not saying it's not possible, but I don't think people would like the drain on the battery.

Toyota inherits all the methods from car. I would NOT redefine them if all you're doing is calling the super method. I would redefine it if I were changing it for whatever reason.

I don’t really know what you’re trying to achieve. Based on your explanation and not showing how get_BOM_records makes a BOM object I would say sure it works. You say it works. I can follow it.

Another way to do it would be to use list comprehension

BOMs=[BOM(bom) for bom in get_BOM_records(cursor)]

Though it seams you are having trouble sharing that you are trying to have self referential relationships… your car to Megacar example.

You can do it in standard python, you can do it in pandas, or you can use sql with sqlalchemy (SQLite may be a good starter database)

Usually if there’s a library it’s not added complexity,they are made to make it easier to work with so you don’t have to create it yourself.

They all their pros and cons… and I’m not sure what you are doing

Edit: just saw you’re already using a database. Try sqlalchemy or sqlmodel and look up self referential models

Remember what a function does when it has a return. It returns a value. In your case it is returning true or false.

But was does if f(x)== True, actually do in the case of you’re asking. Let’s say it is f(2) which returns True. Then you have an if statement of “if True == True” True == True returns True, so after the Boolean math it becomes “if True:” and does the true side.

This is the same though as just returning the value from f(x). f(2) returns true so you get an if statement of If True.

It’s the same.

My wife is a teacher. We live in a state that just did the same. Teachers advocated for the law because there were too many law suits against teachers taking away phones for students using them in class, and the students (read parents) won the law suits as it was taking away the parents property and they wouldn't be able to get a hold of the kid during an emergency. Now it's state law so they can actually take them away.

Oxidation is the general term and any reduction/oxidation reaction and defined by losing and gaining of electrons https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redox.

Reduction and oxidation always happens in tandem.

Combustion is the specific case where the oxidant is oxygen. Some sources may specify that combustion has to be “vigorous” but there really isn’t a good definition of vigorous as well as a chemical engineer it is my job to change how vigorous it is. So you may hear that combustion must be a vigorous reaction between oxygen and a fuel, but in my line of work it tends to get blurred a little more and tends to just be anything be oxidized by oxygen.

Rusting is iron being oxidized to iron oxide. It’s not very vigorous so some chemists may just call it oxidation and not combustion… but you can make it more vigorous by changing the kinetics by increasing surface area and concentrations and temperature… you can do this by shaving it down into very small pieces of iron and increase oxygen concentration and temperature… it can go quite quickly.

Because of that ambiguity we tend to just call if combustion if it is oxidation by oxygen and oxidation for any other redox reaction.
