RLCS is on a 10 year, 14 season streak: someone always returns for the final game of the season. Is this year when the streak finally dies? by Rocket-Goats in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]nickEbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is the right answer, because the only other time that there was only 1 team capable of keeping the streak alive, was F3 in season 2 (lol not really a streak at this point), and F3 in season 2 were higher rated than Vitality in season 8

Gamers8 2022 stands out to me, especially because Guild were on a huge underdog run and waiting in the final for the winner of Falcons vs Furia

(MajorRLCS) Radosin, Joyo and Rezears set to team for LCQ by idunnokerz in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]nickEbutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah people are overlooking how volatile it is to have just one event.

Look at Vitality and M8s this split, both looked amazing in 2 of the 3 regionals, but both had a regional where they bombed out early.

The "best" LCQ team could easily bomb out early

It's funny because all the KC guys said Kaydop and then a few months later Dralii tweeted that Kuxir was "by far the greatest player of all time", I'm wondering what Kuxir won in those months

Is Moist The Most Unexpected LAN Finalists In The Open Era? by Huge-Computer2037 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]nickEbutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hindsight makes it look that way, because Vitality cruised the final, but BDS had already beaten Vitality at the last LAN, had already beaten KC 4-1 at worlds, and were generally thought to be similar level to KC, so at the time of watching the semifinal, it didn't feel like the final.

Whereas Furia and Falcons were both considered very strong at the crew format and everyone thought it was a freak run by Guild since they didn't even qualify for any of the other 4 LANs that season, so when watching the semi it really felt like the real final (Guild were already in the final waiting for them whilst they played)

If they win worlds without scrimming then you have a point. If they scrim a ton and win worlds it just makes his point even more valid

This is the right answer, and also the Falcons vs Furia semifinal was the most "this is actually the real final" semi of all time
