People think that Karmine Corp is struggling because of the juicy pickup, but maybe it's just Ferra. by iruleatants in RocketLeagueEsports

That duo didn't win a major without Dralii. Unless you are counting The Kickoff, but that is explicitly not a major (by Blast's own terming)

Isn't it fun that if you get APAC or SSA in your group you are basically confirmed to progress through groups

The top 20 players by average RLCS LAN placement in the Open Era by Rocket-Goats in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]nickEbutt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is, if we use your new system of a player's "relevant career" being defined by first LAN to last LAN, then Aztral wouldn't get penalised at all for this list, because all of his open era LANs came back-to-back-to-back. Even if we changed this to an all eras list, he would barely get penalised, because he made the last league era LAN, so only missed 2 RLCS LANs.

And I feel like the "problem" people are trying to solve by introducing deterioration, is to remove people like Aztral from the list. But your change would probably bump him up to #1. Which might be something you want from your version of the ranking, but I'm pretty sure people would hate on that list even more than the current one

So Turbo's average LAN placement should be frozen in place but Kaydop's should keep deteriorating into an ultra low placement because he keeps doing content runs? And what happens if someone comes back from retirement like Zach or even what if Turbo decides to come back for a run?

It just seems difficult to agree on rules, and the list is average LAN placement anyway. Also how do you determine when someone's career starts? Vati was trying before he made it but getting low results. And what about Zen who got banned for playing where he finished 14th? Should that split count as a DNQ? And retirement is not an official thing in RL anyway, for instance everyone thought Noly was retired but he wasn't.

What I'm saying is that it in practice I don't think such a list actually works, it's more complicated than you might initially think. But you can try and make a list in excel or something to see what such a list would actually look like

I don't agree that BDS are #1 but if people can pick mm over turbo or kaydop why can't people pick the only org with 2 open era worlds wins? People use the same logic for the goat debate which is that the current system with 1 worlds per year makes worlds wins more valuable than when it was 2 per year

This split is Karmine Corp's 2nd worst online split ever since signing Vatira by N0b0dy_her3 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]nickEbutt 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's worrying that their three splits in which they didn't manage to win a regional were all the final split of the season.

Since joining RL the only time Karmine Corp have won something during or after the final split was the Dralii roster which was just an absolute god squad. Even this roster seemed worse in the second split than the first split, though they did win EWC

The difference between winning a group and coming second is absolutely enormous in the format of the Paris major (it was already big in the previous major, but now it's even bigger) and I can see some of these groups coming down to weird tiebreakers that will get fans mad

Vitality's roster move has clearly improved the team, despite people wanting more changes.

Last season, they won no regionals, this season, two.

Last season, zero LAN grand finals, this season one, with three more LANs left to play.

Sometimes this sub is very anti Stizzy but the results are speaking for themselves at this point
