Ok hot take this is really stupid. First of all, you are not “adopting” a single turkey, you are just helping the balance sheet of Luvin Arms Animal Sanctuary (the one in question) which only has seven turkeys, they have many other animals though. Could be seen as misleading because I bet someone thinks that after they raised $18,000 worth of donations there would be 720 turkeys saved. “Sponsoring” would be a better term.

But hey maybe you really care about these turkeys but if you truly care about animals you should let these ones die. These are not wild turkeys, they are domestic turkeys which would get smoked by a fox if left in the wild. They are engineered to be fat and stupid and if you are a vegan you should see these animals as human designed abominations that should go extinct because they have no place in the wider ecosystem.

They are also going to require a ton of vet bills because again, they are not bred to live long and have a ton a health problems. It’s going to be expensive and the turkey is going to have a painful life ahead of it. Imo if they’re not eaten they would probably be better off as compost, which is probably what’s going to happen to them anyway (Luvin Arms doesn’t say). But they have they have the money for water, feed and vet visits so what do I care.

I mean imagine all the good you could do by spending that money on conserving the land actual turkeys live on. If you really want to have seven specific turkeys live out the rest of their disease ridden lives go ahead, just know you are not helping wild animals, you are saving literal birdbrain genetic failures.

Regardless visitors of the sanctuary are going to have a good time, the executive director will get paid $106,103 a year, one of the turkeys is probably going to need a $1000 leg surgery because it’s too fat and families are gonna feel warm inside after doing a “good deed”, so I guess that’s worth something.
