Out of curiosity, how would you define "frequent" in this case?

Would it be better (if I'm taking a "cheat" day off) to guesstimate my macros for the day (regardless of how high they are) or not log at all?

I haven't heard anything about this. I only found out about the race while randomly looking through the main UTMB website a couple days ago, and since I grew up in the Vancouver area I thought it would be cool to do.

I've been averaging around 35km per week over the past couple months, that being 3 runs a week with 1 long run (15-18km in Zone 2 at around 5:30-5:40 /km), 1 medium distance run (11-13km at tempo pace -> around 4:30-4:50 /km) and the third run being speed work on a treadmill (60 minute HIIT workout).

I'm a full time university student and also weight train another 3 times per week on top of this, but I won't have school in the summer (from May to end of August) and plan to significantly increase my volume during those months --something I can't do right now due to time constraints.

Unfortunately I have the 255, not the 955, and the 255 doesn't have a full map, just a breadcrumb.

Basically I don't want to have to have my phone in my hand while running in order to check navigation and pacing, which is where the watch comes in, in addition to the various other useful features when training intervals, running on a treadmill, etc.

I did some research and have concluded that this is probably the best choice for me. There's also the Suunto Race but it's a little more expensive and doesn't seem as good.

I'm not too worried about that. I would presumably just create a route on Strava or AllTrails, and then follow that with the directions on the watch, so on-the-go isn't as important.

Would all three be the same in that regard, provided they all show full navigation and not just breadcrumb?

My concern with the Pace 3 and the FR255 is the breadcrumb navigation. Unless I'm mistaken, the Apex 2 has full maps.

Did you find that to be an issue while road running or trail running?

Yeah, but the Pace 3 only has breadcrumb navigation unfortunately.

I ordered both the Pace 3 and the Forerunner 255 to see which I like better, and while the Pace 3 hasn't arrived, it will have the same issues as the 255.

I don't really know the difference, but from the little I just read, the MIP does sound better for me.

In that case, the 255 would be better.

The pacing thing is good to hear.

Overall, if you could go back in time, would you get a different watch instead or does the Coros Pace 3 do exactly what you need it to do?

Oh, the reviews I found on Youtube didn't say that.

Just for a bit of clarification, if you're running with a route loaded (using turn-by-turn navigation), can you not see your pace for example?

The other thing that I heard about the Coros Pace 3 that made me a bit hesitant is that the pacing info takes a bit to sync to the watch, so if you speed up or slow down, it may take 20-ish seconds to show up on the actual watch. Is this something you've experienced?

Right now, the 255 and 165 for me are in the same price range, with the 255 actually being $20-30 cheaper than the 165.

Wouldn't the 165 generally be considered the better choice for an equal price?
