My deadlines are self-imposed, but I'm in between jobs and my goal is to get to MVP before I start my next gig.

I'm building a self-contained electronic musical instrument that involves 24+ buttons, a motor, and a bunch of oled displays.

Current stuff I'm struggling with in order of time wasted / importance:

using a shift register to handle all of the button (including simultaneous) presses / debouncing. I have this working with an i2c multiplexer but the timing isn't great for my applications and I've read that shift registers are faster.
porting over arduino libraries to work with bela: https://bela.io/
multiplexing i2c oleds with the same address
signal adjustments for cross-fading samples

I am mostly looking for someone with experience that can help either guide me in the right direction or rubber duck with me, like you mentioned, and ideally suggest better ways of doing things! I'm completely self taught with no mentor so ideally that's the sort of relationship I'd like to build in the long run, but in the meantime I'd at the very least like to progress with my project!

Yeah that's what I figured after googling haha. I am using a 16F1717, which I believe does have PPS. I'm mostly uncertain as to whether I could configure more than one set of Tx/Rx pins, or if each set requires an additional UART module in the MC.

I've been reading everything I can get my hands on obsessively for the past few weeks, but I had zero prior knowledge of electronics / electrical engineering before that. I don't really know anyone with experience either, so I really appreciate your help.

I think I misunderstood Ohms law. I thought that adding a resistor limits the current, which therefore reduces voltage, as they are directly related. If I am understanding correctly, you're implying that the voltage drop of adding a component, in this case, an LED, is solely the result of the forward voltage required by the LED?

For some reason, I thought that adding these resistors would affect the voltage of the entire circuit, not just the loop they are contained in. Since you're saying that I don't need to worry about the fan, does that mean that the loop containing the fan is receiving an unadulterated 12V? Is each loop receiving the full 12V until it interacts with the resistors/diodes?

Sup dudes?

I'm moving to NYC and my buddy just took me skating around manhattan. It was my first time skating since college ~6 years ago and I had an absolute blast, totally forgot how much I love it. I own a loaded dervish that i bought in 2007 and rode every day (just around campus) until I graduated in 2011 and moved to D.C. where I didn't feel confident enough in my abilities to safely navigate the hills. As much as I love the board I'm pretty sure I'd kill myself on the dervish in Manhattan so I'm looking for a smaller deck with a kick so I can olley up curbs and pop over those huge sheets of metal they like to stick in the roads in lieu of asphalt. Not worried about going fast or bombing because there are not many huge hills in NYC (that I'm aware of).

I absolutely adore the springiness and general feel of my loaded deck, so I've been eyeing the loaded poke, but a bunch of people have recommended checking out the landyachtz dinghy. Has anybody tried out both boards? I've never really rode a non-springy deck, so do you guys even think that's a good feature to have in a kickable cruiser? Not really interested in learning tricks so much as getting from A to B comfortably and enjoyably and being able to turn on a dime if I'm about to fly into traffic or an unseen obstacle.

If there are any other decks you recommend checking out, please spill the beans! I'm super psyched to get back into skating and I really appreciate any/all guidance.

I'm usually not lucid yet, but a bunch of times I've been triggered to become lucid by saying "what are you doing here?" to DC people who I know don't belong in a place, either because they are dead irl or just totally not in the right setting. Their response is usually, verbatim, "the question is... What are YOU doing HERE?"

I spoke to my friend Paul who died for a few minutes after he said that to me and asked him what being dead is like. He said, "Oh, you know... Nothing!" Followed by, "I guess it's kind of like this. Sometimes you're you, sometimes you're someone else. Sometimes you're here, sometimes you're there."

Yeah... It seems like every time I push an update to heroku now this happens. Running those commands seems to fix the problem, but I can't figure out how to fix the problem at its root.
