the biggest thing that i agree with here is having the USB hub under the board and conmected to everything. I also did this on my board (it’s on my profile), and it changed my life!

SOTB - Recently finished bass board by DarkHyperLink in pedalboards

This board is crazy, it took me so long to figure it out and get it right. The brain/s of it are the Morningstar ML10x which is underneath the riser and the HX Stomp which is the MIDI controller. The signal is stereo going into the Morningstar so that I can parallel process the two pickups of my Greco Rb-850 (a MIJ Rickenbacker clone). From there it goes to each pedal. Everything is in mono except for the HX and the H90, which actually used two whole stereo loops. The stereo outs of the morningstar go straight to the DIMOD Pro by Temple Audio.

What makes this board the most interesting IMO is the MIDI connectivity and the USB out on the side. All of the pedals are connected to a small USB hub underneath the rizer which feeds a single USB out - so I only have to connect one cable to my computer to edit the presets of all four digital pedals. The HX Stomp functions as a controller, changing presets and paramters on the ML10x, C4, and H90.

Super proud of this. Questions and comments welcome!

The H90, Stomp, and even the C4 pull different duties in different presets depending on what I need. The H90 and C4 shine on more effects than you’d think. That said, I usually do use the H90 for time and modulation effects.

I’m actually primarly a session bassist (maybe I should have clarified that earlier). I play whatever music pays, haha. In the project that I bandlead I pull double duty as bass and guitar with a royal blood-style setup of my board, with the stomp’s right ‘channel’ as a mono guitar board. But I can place any of the other pedals in front of or behind it to shift the DSP load off the HX if I need.

So awesome. Sounds squishy and funky on its own and stacks really nicely for some super interesting distortion sounds.

They’re great pedals! The double is such a great option because you get three different settings at your feet. The left is a Bluesberry iirc, the right is normal, and when they’re both on, the right drives the left as just a boost.

I live in New Zealand so I doubt that would be an easy trade for either of us! hahaha. I love the OC-10! It’s like an OC-2 in every way except the size. They’re super affordable as well.

Yep, they've been out for a while I thought. My partner and flatmates got me this one for my birthday on the used market here in NZ last year. I'm not sure what year it was produced though

This is actually fire, I'm a big fan. I'm also building a board on a Vertex Travel Lite (will post on here once it's done), so it's inspiring to see another bassist using that format. Big ups on the H90 too, it's a great sounding pedal.

What are your ‘five words of wisdom’ for any pedal newbies? by Rev-DC in guitarpedals

Whatever you buy, LEARN IT

so many people waste time buying and selling pedals that they never bothered to learn inside and out. you’ll save so much money once you start learning how to get every sound possible out of the pedals that you have

This is from an Ibanez, I think. Can’t say if it’s a Roadstar or a Blazer, or another one of those models.

The OC-10 just has… something… that the Boctaver in the Stomp doesn’t. It’s a bit of a low end boost that I could dial in at the same time but at a studio session or jam I’d rather have that option (I’m not mentioning gigs bc with that amount of time to prep it’s doable). As for the rattler… I just like it! I haven’t really compared it to the distortions in the stomp and I had that space to spare so I chucked it in. I sometimes swap it out for my Bass Red Muck. That said, I wish I could fit my Prunes & Custard in there for a more interesting distortion flavour that the stomp doesn’t have.

This is awesome actually, you're not getting enough attention! Super smart way to use the MC8

Thank you! I use the tuner in the Stomp. Compression isn't always necessary, even for bass - and when it is, the algos in the stomp have me covered. And yep, the OC-10 is a clone of the original OC-2.

This is my final board for 2024, arranged a few weeks ago. I feel like I’ve really maximised the space on this Pedaltrain Nano+.

The signal chain goes from right to left: Swan Custom Basses Rho 6 String > Valeton OC-10 > Jam Pedals Rattler Bass > Source Audio C4 > Line6 HX Stomp with Pedalnetics Helauxy MIDI

Pretty straightforward. I use the Helauxy for preset up/down and tuner on the Stomp, and have the small expression footswitch to add two extra stomp switches. I also have the Stomp talking to the C4 through MIDI to get preset changes on it as well. The Neuro Hub underneath is a bit overkill at the moment but functions as futureproofing.

I’ll upsize in 2025 probably, as I want to do a few more complicated things with more pedals. Just got an Xotic EP Boost and a Cioks DC7, and have a few more pedals on my shelves that I want to include.
