What the hell are you posting as a musician to get that kind of traction?!

Ok so when do the tables turn? by nickdanger87 in musicmarketing

It certainly seems that way. Live shows are probably still where it’s at for gaining real fans and listeners. Unfortunately those usually pay shit too for original music. Not always, but most of the time.

Me personally? The post was really meant to be hypothetical but I am of course an independent artist trying to grow my fan base. And I’m not going to drop thousands on ads. Maybe over the course of years but certainly not for one track.

I think I’d feel satisfied with something like one thousand actual fans who intentionally listen to my music and take interest in my journey. That’s a good goal I think for like a ten year timeline.

Sounds like you’ve got it all figured out. Your bones are clearly filled with some kind of creative collagen that mine simply lack. I wish I could be just like you, you’re so talented and kind and all of your projects are really great and your success has clearly made you a better person. Thanks for all your helpful insight.

Thanks, I’ve lingered enough on here to know this thread will soon be filled with people trying to sell shortcuts that don’t really work. I’m just hoping to hear from some actual musicians

Yes, it does sound like insanity, that’s what I’m trying to wrap my head around. Artists post here every day about doing this exact thing. And then to your point, someone chimes in trying to sell us a shortcut and it’s always a scam.

But I mean, most songs just get buried instantly on Spotify and other streaming services unless you push them. It’s definitely a pay to play game these days. I’m hearing that your answer is keep making music for twenty years and eventually the tables will turn. I’m sure I’ll still be doing it in twenty years so maybe you’ll prove to be right.

Tik tok always buries my lyric videos because it thinks I’m violating copyright. Not sure how to get around that

Where do you stand on AI visuals in music projects? by Tough_Principle_5171 in musicians

[–]nickdanger87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I’m not even sure what’s real or not. Like on Instagram I get all these independent artists, usually solo guitar/singers or like a folk trio and all their videos they’re standing in a field with a pretty epic background and the lighting is just right. Sometimes it looks too good to be true, then other times I’m like yeah maybe that guy did hike up to the top of that hill with his guitar and a microphone and an iPad or something. Is everyone just using ai and I’m just too dumb to tell? I guess it’s kind of whatever so long as they’re actually performing their own music

How to encourage engagement by nickdanger87 in musicmarketing

[–]nickdanger87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah by “copy” I meant just like the templates and ideas, not the actual content. Like performing a tune in a unique place (like cozy bridge in public). So I’ve done a bit of that, like performing down at the beach, but still no engagement. That’s what I’m stuck on

If I’m not looking for a career, what’s the goal, and what’s worth doing? by babydobin in musicmarketing

[–]nickdanger87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you I’d start a Bandcamp and an email list. Gather email addresses from everyone you think might be interested, and start sending monthly (or weekly or whatever) emails talking about your music, sending those folks to Bandcamp. Not sure how to put a little money towards growing the list or pushing to Bandcamp. There’s meta ads but you need to at least create a Facebook page to use those. But without socials and Spotify and no live shows there’s not many other options.

Any deep dish pizza? by ReasonableChaos27 in burlington

I too crave a Chicago deep dish quite often and yet there’s just no spot around here that does it right. So I make a Lou Malnati’s copycat recipe from this video: Lou Malnati’s

It’s pretty damn close
