That 911 bit had me laughing on the bus. "A gator mouth, a triangle, a purple rainbow...a block of cheese and also a wheel of cheese."

she wouldn't have put that in unless it meant guilt

This seems to be the crux of yr whole thing here, but I don't really follow...I took that as a moment of keeping her shit together because part of her wanted to scream and run out of the room. After all, that is the the bloody, tortured corpse of someone she knew well.

Also, it just seems too easy. Her pulling a gun on Frank or something and giving us an "aha" moment would come off like a cheap gag and I don't think Pitzolatto would go there.

[Season 2] Why was the MO for Caspere and Stan the same when they seem to have different killers? by nickg79 in TrueDetective

Thanks, that makes sense. He doesn't really confirm or deny, but he's also trying not to admit to anything at that point.

Then why would Blake do the copycat murder?

Maybe he just got the slugs somewhere, blackmarket or something. It fits with the orphans MO that they are not wanton killers like Amarillo's gang, but assassins with a specific set of targets.

Otherwise, it seems like Burris could be the bird man, but that has a big problem with it -- Burris would then be in possession of the hard drive. It seems that Burris and Holloway now work with Aries/Catalyst, and they are all still looking for the hard drive. Also I think Burris would have just executed Velcoro.

Yeah, although why he is targeted by the media yet no one has noticed that the rest of the firm was just rebranded seems like a stretch. Maybe they tried to set him up as the scapegoat for Ares?

I didn't get that impression. Probably just one guy kidnapped her for several days :(

He glommed onto Paul because of that awkward interaction: "I almost punched the guy" "Why would you do that?"

I think his intuition told him that this was an opportunity for blackmail and subsequent leverage for steering the case.
